We finally got to try out this city gem. There we a lot of great beer choices. Including at least 4 hazy ipa’s. Most brewery have either good brew or good food. The food was very good and the service was above average. They were helpful, but didn’t hover. The beer cheese soup exceeded my expectations. Everything we ate and drank was a pleasure for the senses. Also love the historic building, the former HUB Theater!

We rented out the entire place for a prewedding welcome party. We had about 120 people attend – served all their entrees and had open bar.
Chris the manager was fabulous to work with and made the entire evening easy and stress free. He had plenty of bartenders and staff. No waiting for anything.
The food was absolutly AMAZING! We are still hearing about it a month later.
Forbidden Root has a special place in our lives – and we were so happy to be able to host such a casual yet high end experience to all our guests.

The duck and dumplings were so good! Really enjoyed the kale salad as well. They have some unique beer options and overall the atmosphere is relaxed with great food!

Just come the beers and light bar snacks. Food was nothing to write home about. Everything we ordered was extremely salty. The duck and dumplings salty. Fries salty. Pretzel salty (the only thing expected to have copious amount of salt). The description of the food & cocktails on the menu sounded whimsical and delicious but fell flat upon delivery. The only saving grace was the waitstaff was very friendly and professional.

Amazing food and complementary beer! We had their house made chorizo, Duck & Dumpling, Schnitzel and the Strawberry Basil sorbet. Everything was spectacular and our server was so kind and well versed in the menu. He made fantastic beer recommendations, would recommend Forbidden Roots?

Place itself was so cool! I really like atmosphere and vibe. Unfortunately, host was unfriendly, I wasn’t being welcomed. Food didn’t reach my expectation. Mushroom soup was EXTREMELY SALTY. I was too shy to ask to remake it… Breaded pork cutlet sandwich (schnitzel sandwich) was good but needed more condiment. It was crispy but also very dry. My husband ordered a spicy chicken sandwich, he said it was flavorful but french fries weren’t seasoned at all, no salt or pepper.

I always have a great time at Forbidden Root. We got a table by the windows. The ambiance is amazing and spacious. Our waitstaff was gracious. We ordered several drinks and food items and everything was a delight. The Old Fashioned is strong and I loved it. The cheese and crackers were also good. Great place for some drinks, food and banter.
