Although it wasn’t crowded, I found myself waiting a while to be seated. While I was waiting, I noticed a customer returning a plate of wings that were raw in the middle. Mistakes happen, I suppose.
Once seated, our waitress promptly took our order, and she was excellent. I chose the “off the off entree,” which was a hamburger steak served with a baked potato, vegetables, and salad. I was surprised to see that it cost $38, which seems quite steep for a hamburger steak.
When my dish arrived, I found the baked potato to be dry and lacking any toppings. As for the hamburger steak, it was unfortunately RAW—definitely not just rare. When the waitress returned, I mentioned the issue, and she asked if I wanted sour cream for the potato. I accepted, but the potato was still undercooked—hard and not soft at all.
Eventually, I received a new hamburger steak that was extremely hot and properly cooked, but it clearly had been microwaved. I was hungry, so I managed to eat most of it along with about a quarter of the potato. At least they did remove the entree from the bill.
As I was leaving, I noticed both the owners and the chef were gathered at the entrance, chatting loudly. I don’t mind a little small-town banter, but not one of them acknowledged me with a “thank you,” “goodbye,” or even an apology. The waitress, however, was courteous.
Sadly, I’ve heard similar complaints from others about this place. I’m sharing this not to be unkind, but in hopes that they can improve.
We’d just spent 3 days in Idaho at a Lodge in Idaho and the food there started getting monotonous, so we had anticipation and some gratitude, for having a chance of new food styles in our lives.
Only to be disappointed.
We entered into the front of the house to find a shabby, unappealing combination of Takeout pickups, soda dispenser, kitchen counter, checkout station. A mess. Confusion over who we were and what we wanted; seated in the only remaining two seat table in an only slightly more attractive dining area. A quick survey revealed a brighter more open room, and we asked to be moved. Why didn’t they seat us there in the first place?
Wine was served in 3-4 ounce shots. Five bucks seemed cheap, but not in the total. Ordered the pizza. No build-your-own option.
Waited forty minutes.
It was awful.
It’s not pizza. It’s flat-bread. Not yeast leavened, but baking soda for raising the dough. At which it failed. Dough was a hard tack bottom, with a stodgy section where ti contacted the sauce. What little there was.
The toppings were typical. Too much mozz, and insipd sausage. Veggies were a solitary rise to OK.
There’s a lesson here somewhere.
The waitress was great and was very apologetic.
