Pho Vientiane…food truck extraordinaire
I admit that I’m a bit of a foodie and I’m always looking for new and tasty places to eat. I have even traveled abroad in anticipation of experiencing the local cuisine.
I was originally introduced to the world of phở by a Vietnamese friend a lifetime ago. I have been exploring the variations of the iconic dish ever since. My favourite restaurant in the world is Vietnamese-owned and operated, back in Canada.
While visiting the Islands, I only recently had occasion to spontaneously stop and try “Pho Vientiane,” a long-time frozen-in-place food truck—secreted along the Kamehameha Hwy, Hauula – on Oahu’s North Shore.
I was more than pleasantly surprised by the quality and selection of Vietnamese street food this wonderful eatery was offering.
The proprietors of this humble food truck were quintessentially customer service-focused.
The menu options are impressively diverse, especially considering the size of the space in which they are stored and prepared. The service was impressively expedient, and the quality and generous size of the offerings were extraordinary.
I was sufficiently impressed by Pho Vientiane to offer up five stars for the authentic tastes they offer. They are every bit as addictive as those I experienced in South Vietnam – back in the day.

Beef lemongrass Ban Mi & Spring rolls were super good. Added avocado on the sandwich. Rolls were cooked perfectly, not greasy, just crispy and the filling had great flavor & fresh. Wasn’t too hungry but i couldn’t stop eating. Finished it all.

I’ve always wanted to go to this place and I did last week. I honestly didn’t expect this place as good at all, but I was very wrong. If you don’t know “Vientiane” is capital city of Lao. So I assume the lady that made these is Laotian. I love everything in the plate: the broth, meat, meatballs, and even the veggies. The summer rolls were also really good because they were fresh with a really good peanut sauce (not the typical peanut Thai sauce). It’s way better. The quantity is so much. One bowl for two people. Unless you eat a lot lol. I couldn’t finish the pho and put it in the fridge for four days. It was still good after I reheated it. I would definitely go back again. It’s probably my favorite pho spot of the entire island. There are chickens but the place is always clean.

Solid bahn mi! Made fresh to order. Spring rolls we’re great too. Definitely worth the stop along the hwy!!! Best bahn mi was the lemongrass chicken with avocado and tofu. Really tasty!!!

The tofu pho was the perfect meal for a cloudy rainy evening! Friend had the tripe and loved it. Generous toppings, and the sauces and spices all combine in such a yummy way. 10/10!

The Teriyaki Beef Bahn Mi was pretty good. The lunch table with shade was a nice dining area. Cute chicken around the area but no poop on the tables. Also outdoor hand washing station is important. The customer service was great, a kind little girl So happy to find this spot. Check it out
