This restaurant was so good that we ate there 3 times during our trip to Alabama! Our server, Tara, was excellent. She was friendly, personable, and very knowledgeable about the menu items. I would definitely recommend this establishment to anyone who loves seafood. We appreciated the owner stopping by our table to check on us as well. Great food and service.

I remember when this location was Mary’s. The atmosphere is nearly the same. The food is delicious. I highly recommend the gumbo (Watch out Pirates on the island you might have competition) and the boudin egg rolls. The fried fish platter was excellent too. My dad has some health problems but he ate every bite! Service was wonderful. Everything was so good.

Southbound has only been open a few weeks as the date of this post. My friends and I enjoyed the food and the service very much. The restaurant is fairly large and has additional seating in an adjacent room, which would be perfect for larger groups.

There were plenty of fried onions in this appetizer and they were done just right. I enjoyed the steam shrimp boil. It includes one pound of steamed shrimp, red potatoes and corn. I do suggest for people that have spice concerns or just don’t care for a lot of the crab boil spice, that they ask for half spice or to admit the spice on the vegetables.

My husband enjoyed the shrimp Alfredo, which came with bread. One of our friends has a gluten allergy. They were very accommodating with their menu, allowing her to have a substitute side order of cherry tomatoes. There is a salad bar as well.

The weight staff were friendly and helpful.

Yes! I would eat there again.

Went during southbound’s soft opening. The steaks are great(could use some salt) but great nonetheless. There is a small wait sometimes, but the food is worth it! The wait staff seems nice and attentive. For a soft opening, I’d give this place 5 stars and I will definitely be back for the grand opening to see how much they have improved.

Still in “soft open”? Owner was not able to give reliable open hours (which is one reason I didn’t give it a 5). Had already made one trip out there, only to find it closed. That being said, the menu was diverse and priced about what we expected $15-25 for most entrees (see menu attached). Bacon burger was very good, with homemade fries that were delicious and crunchy on edges. The pound of steamed shrimp (low-country) was delicious and just spicy enough! Also, took gumbo home and found it very good! Full of shrimp and rue was perfect. All in all, a good experience. Get some solid hours set!

If you’re looking for some good sea food that’s off the beaten path, this is the place for you. I had the shrimp po’boy. It was more that I could eat. Halfway through I had to open the bread and only eat the shrimp. It came with fries that were fresh and very good. The young lady who took my order was really nice and very …… I’ll leave it at that.
The inside is small and clean. I counted 7 tables. I guess you could call this restaurant a nice hole in the wall.
I pinned this location on my iPhone for future stops.

We decided to give the new place a try after Church. Was glad we did, the seafood platters we had were delicious. The wife and I had the salad bar and split a seafood platter and took a lot home! Salad bar was extremely fresh and delightful. Every portion of our seafood platter was cooked perfectly and tasted wonderful. A few people around us got a ribeye and that is what we will try next time because it looked and smelled amazing when they went by us. The highlight of our lunch date was Courtney, the delightful waitress. She was attentive and helpful in all aspects of from initial drink orders, help deciding what to have and checking on us during our meals. And she was always smiling which is nice treat in itself.

Went based on the Google reviews and they did not fail. I had the fried shrimp, and my husband had the steamed shrimp as our entrees; it was all very delicious. I got the gumbo as an appetizer and it had a dark roux but was very tasty. My husband had the grilled oysters and enjoyed every bite. Nothing was over- or undercooked; the shrimp came straight from the Gulf. The owner came around to check on the tables and asked us how everything was. We told him it was our first visit and that we absolutely enjoyed it. Will DEFINITELY be going back. The cherry on top was that the restaurant and the restrooms were wheelchair friendly.

Excellent staff. Food came out quick. Fresh excellent flavors. Cannot wait for my next trip. Shrimp dip was good. Oysters were the best I have ever had. The fish was actually catfish that day which shocked me. I thought it was tilapia, white very mild sweet flavored.
