I didn’t try the food or drinks on this visit, but I did purchase two of the infused candy bars—one aimed at relieving pain and aches, and the other for PMS symptom relief. I also picked up two types of patches: one for stress relief and another specifically for PMS. I’m definitely planning to come back to try the food and drinks! The drink menu including teas, smoothies, and coffees sound amazing.
The atmosphere here is very calming and laid-back, making it a great place to unwind. They carry a wide variety of holistic items, candles, soaps, teas, beauty creams, gummies, pet treats, and more. In the back, there’s a cozy lounge area perfect for relaxing, and they even offer live music. The employees were friendly, welcoming, and very helpful.
This place has officially earned a spot on my “must-visit” list whenever I’m in Kankakee, IL!

This is exactly what downtown Kankakee needs. This place is unique, cozy, refreshing, and uplifting. There are lots of healthy and fresh drink and meal options on the menu. *edited* I was always a vocal advocate of Awaken. Unfortunately, I won’t go back. I used to love the acąi bowl, but they have made portions smaller and smaller. The last time we ordered, the bowl was barely half full, and you could see the difference. I called and the owner/manager wasn’t there. The employee assured me she would call me back, but hasn’t in the 2 weeks since. To make matters worse, I was at Stefari West that night, and the young ladies from Awaken were at the bar. Right before we left, I heard my name. They were actually talking about me, and that I had called and asked to talk to a manager. So I know for a fact that she does know, and just chooses not to call me back. I will go to Essential Smoothies now instead.

This place is literally the best cafe around. First off the staff are amazing. The time and effort they put into bringing this place into the community is evident. The aesthetics are beautiful and the menu options oh my goodness best smoothies by far and the coffee is amazing. Love love love this place

I visit here several times a month and have always had great experiences. Unfortunately, my visit yesterday (Jan 3) was disappointing. The two employees working at closing made me feel like I was an inconvenience. Even later in the day, customers should still receive the same level of service during all posted business hours. The drinks were still great, but the attitude was not.

The service was amazing, the staff is so friendly and accommodating! The drinks I’ve tried so far have been delicious, not to mention the stunning presentation. Pictured is the 16 oz Tropical Mirage smoothie (I had it made with coconut milk). The decorations and atmosphere are so calming and welcoming, perfect to relax, study, or even browse their impressive collection of products they have for sale!
