I ordered the Shrimp Po Boy. Bread, lettuce, tomato, and onion were perfectly fine and well balanced on quantity, but the shrimp! The shrimp were large, fresh, perfectly fried, and pouring out of the sandwich! The sauce was spot on. 10/10
Wife ordered Shrimp & Grits, which was a perfect portion and balance of ingredients.
A side of pan fried Okra, Homemade Mac & Cheese with perfectly crusted cheese, and spot on cornbread?
We’ll definitely be returning.
There were 4 in our party. 2 of us ordered the fried shrimp platter (cajun style), one ordered the fried red snapper platter, and the other ordered the shrimp and grits.
Let me start by saying their cornbread…..is off the hook!!!! The perfect combination of the savory/sweet styles of cornbread. Me and another guy thought it was so good, you didn’t even need butter on it.
The 2 guys that ordered the shrimp and grits and the fried red snapper platter received their food first. I can’t tell you how long it took for me and the other guy to get our fried shrimp platters, but lets just say the other 2 were done with their food WELL before the other guy and I received ours.
When my other friend who also ordered the fried shrimp asked for some more cornbread, since our food still wasn’t there, he was met with somewhat of a poor response when he was told, “we don’t usually give it out free, but we’ll make an exception” Well, I sure would hope you’d make an exception when 2 other people in the party are already done with their food. A guest shouldn’t have to ask for something to hold them over when an inconvenience like that occurs. And to top it off, she only brought 1 piece….when there was still another person waiting on food.
As far as the fried shrimp goes, the flavor was AWESOME, but….you couldn’t pick it up without all the breading falling off. Poor execution in my opinion.
The reason for the hold up was, “the cook didn’t like the first batch she cooked so she re-made it”. That’s awesome, but you should inform the waiting guests of the inconvenience and not make it sound like it’s an inconvenience yourself to offer something to hold them over.
I’ll go back, simply because I was a chef for 14 years and realize things happen. Hopefully my next visit will garner them a 4+ star rating next time.
