Since I could not use my coupon from the App, I chose a footlong Tuna sub. They still have the large steel cover over the meats so you cannot watch them put the tuna on your sandwich. Most Subways have gotten rid of that cover as it is bad to not let the customer see the meats and salads they put on your sandwich. This place seems to like keeping it hidden. She brought the cheese over behind the steel cover so it bli ded me from seeing how much tuna was on it when she brought the sandwich over for the rest of the toppings.
She proceeds to quickly and sloppily put the remaining ingredients I asked for on the sandwich. It seems like they are instructed to put the least amount they can unless the customer complains. I asked to taste pickles because they use the cheaper pickles and not the real dill pickles. They can sometimes be ransid from being out in the air too long. A few Subways do carry the better pickles. They focus on quality and taste over cost. Not this store. The cheap ones are horrible.
Price with the small drink and chip combo was $18.68 w/tax. I was kind of stunned and said wow! She came back by saying the price was going up next week, as if to say I am lucky to only pay what I am.
I can deal with the cost, if the food and value is good. But, the bread was crackly and somewhat stale. What I then noticed was there was very little tuna except in the very middle. The end quarters had almost no tuna on either side. Also, the tuna was reduced by a lot in the tuna salad itself and a lot more watery mayo in its place. They are running a $4.99 6 inch tuna special right now and that may be to stretch the tuna for the deal or it just may be their normal offering these days, not sure. Either way it’s not as good as it used to be. They also put all the tuna to the back of the sandwich, so when eating, you get a bite of all vegetables and then at the back you get all tuna salad (see pictures.) I doubt that is the process that Subway corporate would teach it’s franchisees.
Finally, I ordered the fountain drink only to find out at the machine that they were out of the diet Pepsi or Pepsi Max pop. I was frustrated and she at least did offer me the bottled Diet Pepsi in place of it, but to get that I had to give back the cup she gave me that I had already filled with ice. She said I could have a small clear plastic water cup instead. I certainly hope no one was given that cup after me. After drinking the pop for a while, I noticed it was kind of flat and flavorless. I looked at the freshness date and realized this bottle expires in 3 days. Most pop is sold about 2-3 months out from its expiration date, so this was very old and not fresh.
This is just a bad Subway with poor management. It is clean though, I will give them that.
The worker also pointed to the tip choice when I paid by card and said “dont forget us” as if spending $15 for a sandwich wasn’t enough already.
I always get low portions of meat and they seem to not want my business, so I will go elsewhere from now on.
Also they made the sandwich incorrectly and when I called to try and get it resolved the employee insisted it was made correctly and I was hung up on… go to the one in Hanover park or carol stream instead.
#2 the lady who’s behind the counter is rude as can be every time I go in there. (Looked at me after paying and said “No Tip again”)
#3 hardly any meat on my sandwich every time I go
They also skimped out on the meat majorly and tried to compensate with vegetable like lettuce/ tomatoes/ peppers.
my recommendation is find another location worth the $ they already over charge you for.
