I’m a student at TCNJ, and honestly, this place is very hit or miss. Some days the food is good, your order is correct (which is rare), and the staff treats you with basic respect. Other days, though, you’re just not in the mood to deal with unprofessional and incompetent service.
My friends and I went out for breakfast hoping to have a nice sit-down meal. Eickhoff only offers scrambled eggs, and we wanted something different–over-easy eggs or really anything besides scrambled. Right away, half of the menu items weren’t available, which was frustrating considering many of the dishes use the same ingredients prepared in slightly different ways. It honestly felt more like a lack of effort than an actual shortage, but we ordered what was available and sat down.
After a while, we were given water in paper soda cups along with plastic utensils–which made no sense for a sit-down restaurant. Then our food arrived… in to-go boxes. I genuinely thought it was a joke. I understand it’s nearing the end of the semester, but I highly doubt they ran out of plates, cups, and silverware. When we asked for actual plates, the manager gave us attitude and acted confused as to why we would even ask–like we were the problem.
To make things worse, when my friend ordered hotcakes, she was told they could only give her one syrup because they were “on a shortage.” That doesn’t add up at all, especially when Eickhoff–also under TCNJ facilities–has buckets of maple syrup readily available. One tiny syrup for three large pancakes is ridiculous, especially when we’re paying for this level of service.
While the food itself can be good, portion sizes are completely inconsistent, and the staff is often rude and unhelpful. Overall, TCNJ really needs to take another look at this place because the experience is honestly disappointing and feels like a joke. And this is just one incident. There have been many other times when the restaurant has claimed to have “shortages.” On one occasion, my friend and I went again, this time for takeout. We were told that the only option available was chicken tenders. I asked the staff member if they were sure they didn’t have a salad–something that is literally just lettuce with chicken tenders on top. After disappearing for a few minutes, he came back and said, “Yeah, we actually do have that.”
Then, after my friend ordered the chicken tenders and waited for a while, the staff handed him a buffalo chicken wrap. This made absolutely no sense. We were explicitly told that they had nothing besides tenders, yet suddenly they had a wrap and a salad available. The constant contradictions, misinformation, and lack of effort make it clear that this isn’t just about shortages–it’s about poor communication and lazy, unreliable service.

Takes an hour to bring out a damn skillet cookie which takes no longer than 10-20 minutes to prepare. Quality of food is good and bad depending on the day….if you’re very patient I recommend

foods okay most the time but it never tastes the same and they are always running out of everything. They often mess up orders. I have had to wait over an hour for food and the place was empty. They never have the full menu available. I have had them charge me the wrong amount a couple of times. The food at tcnj needs major help.

Service takes a very long time and people at the bar and the window are prioritized over people dining in. Waited over 35 minutes for a Shirley Temple.
