If you’re looking for fantastic Greek food and an amazing atmosphere you have to check out Magissa!

The quality of the ingredients is outstanding; everything tasted incredibly fresh. I tried several things, each unique and delicious. I would recommend all of them! I had a newly-added smoked ricotta and beet appetizer, Mezze sampler platter, a perfectly seasoned lamb skewer and the Marinated Gigante Beans. All of which were so full of flavor, but the side of Gigante beans stole the show. A must try!

I highly recommend Magissa for anyone looking for authentic, fresh Greek cuisine paired with stellar service and a lovely atmosphere. I can’t wait to go back and try more!

Went for “Girl Dinner” last week. This was a deal! Cesar Salad, fries and a dirty martini for $25! The martini could use some work, the brine was off to me, but the will let you sub for a regular martini with a twist if you’d prefer. Staff was wonderful, vibes were nice and I really appreciate the deal!

We went there extremely excited to try “girl dinner” and were honestly left disappointed. We added chicken and lamb to it, and both were very bland. The lamb didn’t even taste like lamb and was seriously lacking seasoning. Even the Caesar salad didn’t taste like a Caesar salad!!

My cocktail was also pretty bad, which just added to the overall letdown. Service was fine, but nothing special. For $130, the experience felt very mediocre and overpriced.

We also tried the mezze, which came with pita, and it was just not good. The waitress offered us more pita in a way that made it seem like it was included, so we assumed it was complimentary — only to later see we were charged extra for it. That lack of transparency was frustrating.

Overall, definitely not what we expected for the price.

I walked in a little before closing and the hostess was able to accommodate us at the bar. The appetizers were authentically Greek and the main dishes did not disappoint. But what was exceptional was the dessert, a fusion of blueberries and tahini on an ouzo cake. I have never tasted anything like it before. It was truly an amazing night with a great atmosphere. Shout out to the bartender who tended bar and took very good care of us.

Magissa had mediocre Greek fare, but worst was how my meal was served: on a small, rectangular metal tray-like plate- all the food was set on top of a PAPER napkin inside the bottom of the tray. (I did not realize this at the time) Needless to say halfway through I realized that the paper had broken down and I had ingested it! When mentioned to the server to please tell someone about our disappointing experience, we just received our bill w/o an “I’m sorry”, or “I mentioned this to the kitchen staff”. Make damn sure your food doesn’t come a top of a paper napkin if you do decide to eat there!

I grew up going to a wonderful Greek restaurant in Upstate NY (shout out Symeon’s – open since 1973!), and Magissa is the first Greek restaurant in Maine I have gone to that matches it. The food is delicious, and the wine selection is also nice if that’s your thing. We will be back!

Nice food. Great vibe and friendly staff. Prices very reasonable too. Some negatives: limited entrees. Also, we went all in for 5 mezze. They were good but we ran out of pita. The lamb chops were perfectly cooked but lacked punch. Gyros were good but I’ve had better. Overall very competent traditional Greek food. Worth going but not a super memorable experience if you’ve had Greek food elsewhere.

We popped in during their soft opening and were able to snag some bar seats. The bartender was quite helpful in guiding us through the Mediterranean wine selections. The decor was tastefully updated to reflect the Grecian menu. But most importantly, the food was phenomenal! We started with the mezze and a great tasting of spreads. For dinner, I opted for the Caesar salad with chicken, and my partner opted for the lamb gyro. The flavors were on point! We can’t wait to make Magissa one of our regular establishments. Welcome to the neighborhood.

Came here with a large group, and our server was phenomenal! The brunch was really tasty. This place is also a great option for anyone with a peanut allergy because they don’t have any peanuts on the premises or cook with them at all.

The food was fine, but I was expecting more. $21 for 5 sides in the mezze as you can see in the picture could have been more generous. The Greek salad had barely dressing, I would have expected to be generously seasoned with delicious Greek olive oil, and the romaine lettuce and tomatoes were bland specially costing over $20. I hope that the owners step it up with the quality and serving size as the food has potential. We ordered takeout, maybe it’s better experience in person. I would not order again takeout.
