We visited House of Tiffins on a Saturday morning and had a decent experience.

Paid street parking is available nearby.

When we arrived, there were instructions at the entrance to ring the bell to the food hall if it was locked, this was helpful. The food hall and the restrooms (which require a code to enter) were clean. Note, we were the only customers there at this time.

We used the screens available near the House of Tiffins Counter to order millet idlis and benne masala dosa – the wait time was short.

The food itself was good. The sambhar was warm and delicious, and the green coconut and red tomato chutneys paired alright without being spicy. The millet idlis were heart-shaped (cute touch!) and wholesome while the benne dosa was crispy on the edges and I could taste that it was made with ghee.

Overall, a lovely, low-key spot for a South Indian breakfast.

Absolutely loved this South Indian restaurant! Their dosa is hands down one of the best—perfectly crisp on the outside and light inside. The idli was amazingly soft and fluffy, fresh and comforting with every bite. What truly stood out was the sambhar, rich, flavorful, and easily one of the best in the San Jose Bay Area.
Special mention to the brother and sister at the counter—he was extremely friendly, welcoming, and attentive, making the whole experience even better. Authentic food, warm service, and great quality overall. Highly recommend for anyone craving true South Indian flavors!

Ordered a bunch of things from House of Tiffins via DoorDash from my partner’s account today, paid the long distance fees, service fees and what not to only to find out that the dosa we ordered was missing all the side dishes – sambar, chutneys – nothing! So, we had to resort to eating the dosa with yogurt (only thing we had left in our refrigerator) instead. This is the second time this has happened to us. Would be great if the team double checked their take out orders before sending it off with the dashers. Lacks the consistency and service the store once had.

I recently tried the dosa at House of Tiffins, and it was a really enjoyable experience. The dosa was perfectly crispy on the outside and soft inside, with a fresh and authentic taste. The portion size was filling, and the sides complemented it well.

The night staff were friendly, polite, and attentive, making the experience smooth even during late hours. Service was quick, and the overall atmosphere was pleasant.

I’d definitely recommend House of Tiffins if you’re looking for a tasty dosa, especially at night. Will surely visit again!

We went there hoping to encourage and support a woman – owned business, but the experience fell flat. We initially went for just a good hot filter coffee to ease a headache but left underwhelmed. Filter coffee was served super cold despite us requesting a hot one twice. Coffee is microwaved. I saw with my bear eyes. The only snack tasted good was beach sundal. The poori was flat, not fluffy served with a bland aloo curry and aamras. We also tried kerala style banana bajji which looked completely different in the photos (on their menu) – what we got were tiny, oily fritters tasted terrible. Filter coffee was served super cold. Portions are less. Service was painfully slow and overall food didn’t taste good. Sadly, not worth the hype from Instagram.

Excellent taste. We tried the Millet button Idly, Benne Masala Dosa and Mysore Masala. We also tried Idiyappam and kurma. Beach sundal is also super tasty and a must try if you visit in the evening. The staff here are friendly. The food hall itself might get crowded and not very clean sometimes.

House of Tiffins is one of my favorite restaurants/food trucks in the South Bay. I’ve been a regular since they opened. They’ve truly perfected their millet recipes, offering the healthiest and closest alternative to traditional rice-based dishes you’ll find anywhere.

My personal favorites are the millet pongal (it has that nostalgic aroma of temple pongal back home in South India), beach sundal, millet lunch box and podi idli. I also love their recent upgrade to eco-friendly containers for almost all of their hot dishes.

They take customer feedback seriously and respond with genuine care. Huge shoutout to this budding business and their excellent team and service!

The food is decent. Nothing remarkable but good.

I would’ve rated a little higher if the portions were better. The dosa is the size of a 8-9” dessert plate which is typical if you made the dosa at your house, not at a restaurant. I would prefer them to increase portion sizes and charge a bit more if they have to. If the “homemade” vibe is what they’re going for, it doesn’t work and their food court ambiance is not helping.

I tried the benne Mysore masala dosa. The “Mysore” part of it is lacking. Tasted like the podi one. The dosa itself was crispy and buttery as expected. The masala was fine and again very small quantity.

The sambar was very good. Coconut chutney was good but tomato chutney was a letdown.

The Kumbakonam degree coffee was not good at all. It tasted as if you got Narasu ‘s intense instant coffee powder and added milk. This did not taste like a coffee made from a filter.

As other reviewers have pointed out, it is a cloud kitchen run in a food hall. I knew this before going in so didn’t affect my experience.

This place is not what the ratings are! We regret going here ! We ordered dosa and idli which are supposed to be millet based which iam not sure if it was ! Coming to the Taste- both idli and dosa didn’t have salt and the chutney was cold ! Both the items didn’t taste fresh ! Not worth the price . The only thing we liked is the filter coffee that’s about it.
I wouldn’t recommend this place for food for sure !

First time trying out the House of Tiffins after wanting to do this for a while. Location is in San jose downtown . It was easy to find street parking. We ordered the Benne curry podi dosa, millet biriyani, button idly with sambar, kovai style odacha poori and kumbakonam degree coffee. Items arrived shortly after ordering and all of them were excellent in flavor! Not too oily or too much of masala flavors..just perfectly done! The kovai style odacha poori was amazing! Being from kovai, this took me back home Spice levels on all dishes were just right! A Hallmark of a great south Indian restaurant is the flavor of the sambar and chutney. Loved the sambar and the coconut chutney here. Looking forward to coming back here soon. Thank you House of Tiffins!!
