Amazing seafood restaurant in Doolin! It’s extremely popular, so reservations are highly recommended – though we were lucky to get a table after waiting at the bar for 15 minutes, thanks to the kind manager’s advice. The service was warm and welcoming, and the food was outstanding.
We started with whipped goat cheese with dates, almonds, and hot honey – an incredible mix of flavors. For mains, we had the fish of the day (seabass) and lamb. Both were perfectly cooked: the fish was unbelievably fresh, and the lamb tender and flavorful. Even though we were nearly full, we couldn’t resist dessert – sticky toffee pudding and Eton mess – and both were absolutely delicious.
And the cherry on top – they have live music every day, which makes the atmosphere even more special. Truly one of the best meals we’ve had in Ireland!

Beautiful warm cozy restaurant. Darren and his staff are polite and friendly and their service is first class. Viv Kelly and his kitchen staff are cooking some of the best food in Clare.
I’d recommend the Srilankin Seafood Curry or the boulibaisse.
The Food is excellent quality. Perfect place for a cozy winters evening.

I never review restaurants but the lamb shoulder I had last night was the best lamb I’ve ever had. It was just cooked perfectly and absolutely delicious. The flavors developed in your mouth and danced on your palate. I know it’s a seafood restaurant, but the lamb is a must try!!!! I’ve eaten a lot of lamb in my life too so figured I’d rave about a great meal.

It’s a lovely place. Food is amazing, especially that fish and chips, best one in Ireland!
The portion of starters is quite huge. I ordered mussels and it came with a big bowl. I couldn’t finish my main at the time Bring some home and after reheating, it is still delicious!!!
There is a group playing music as well, very chill! Their tent area also accommodates pets, would like to bring out lab next time ❤️

It was our first visit and we really enjoyed it. The decor is very cosy – clearly a lot of thought has gone into lighting and materials, The welcome by the staff was refreshing and we were well informed about the menu which is not extensive but is very interesting. The atmosphere was casual but professional. The lamb shoulder was intense with flavour and the cabbage was a lovely surprise. Darren looked after us well. We are already looking forward to returning!

We had a few drinks as well as the Wagu beef, mussels appetizer, sides of potato salad and the colcannon mashed potatoes. Wrapping the evening with Black Forest cheesecake. Today was my husbands birthday and the brought dessert with a candle and sang happy birthday… I merely mentioned in convo with the waitress it was his birthday did not ask for anything special. Drinks and food were great, service outstanding. All in all an excellent meal and service.

Really recommend this restaurant! We were really lucky to beat the dinner crowd and seated right way without a reservation. Tuesday night and they were pack. We really enjoyed the coconut lemongrass soup, perfect for Ireland’s rainy day. All food was served piping hot and in a big portion.
They have irish traditional live music every night too

One of the best meals we have had in Ireland. Gorgeous rustic decor, relaxed vibe, good service and great food.
We enjoyed the whole fish of the day and fish and chips. Loved the porn star martinis and the fish soup was amazing.

Dined here twice during our trip. Darren was always cheerful and welcoming. Our waitstaff both evenings were great and very personable, even striking up nice conversations when prompted. The atmosphere is cozy chic, not stuffy at all. A singer performed trad tunes a cappella the second night, which was great. The food is very fresh and delicious. I started with the oysters, husband the Brie. Very tasty. I ordered different specials both nights and husband enjoyed the fish and chips one night and lamb the second night. Rounded out one evening with the sticky toffee pudding and the other with a mango and lime posset. Everything tasted as great as it looks. Stop in if you’re in Doolin- you won’t be disappointed!
Edited Sept 2025: Returned to Russells for our second trip this year to the area… again, outstanding service and food our two additional visits. Darren is such a great person. Trad on Friday evening was wonderful. See ya again soon!
