A Divine Canine
Truly a hidden gem in the desert. Operated inside a historic adobe building, The Grey Mule Saloon is a refreshing oasis in this quaint town.
Wine tasting, cocktails (wine based) and beer are available along with a charcuterie board, other light eats and desserts. Be sure to try Sue’s homemade pistachio pie, you won’t be disappointed.
They are pup friendly and have a huge fenced area for your dogs or kids to run and play.
Plenty of shade from ages old cottonwood trees cover the patio and yard while you relax, unwind and listen to live music on the stage.
They offer private tastings for groups, have indoor and bar seating too. I enjoyed my time there and even went home with a local bottle of wine.
All the staff were very friendly and attentive, I promise you’ll have a great time

We stayed in Fort Stockton overnight on our way to Santa Fe New Mexico and discovered this amazing place. Staff were very friendly and we enjoyed a nice wine and cheese board.

Nice wine bar in an historic building. Small wine list with focus on Texas labels with tasting flights available. Tasty flatbreads and cheese boards, great friendly service, and fun clientele of mostly locals made for a nice experience. Outdoor patio but was a bit chilly on the night we visited. Recommended if you find yourself stopping for the night in Ft. Stockton.

You have to come here if you are in Fort Stockton. Such a fun vibe and great for adults and families both. I have family that lives in Fort Stockton and whenever we go to visit, we love to come here and sit on the back patio with a bottle of wine. You don’t find many small business family oriented hang outs like this anymore. Amazing prices as well. Get some pecans on the way out.

We stopped on Friday after-work for a bottle of wine and ordered the cheese plate. I was impressed with the quality of the cheese plate. It had thick cut slices of cheese, juicy sweet grapes, crisp apple, ripe pear, olives and an assortment of crackers. The atmosphere is great and the owner Sue is terrific! We love visiting locally owned businesses and this one is worth the stop!!

The atmosphere is welcoming and comfortable. Plenty of space inside and on the patio to enjoy a drink with friends or family. The wine is delicious and priced appropriately, beer, and other nonalcoholic beverages are also available. The service is quick and the staff is kind and knowledgeable on the menu.

My wife and I absolutely loved it. Michel is a colorful West Texas character (which is made more fun by the fact that he is French), and he is just the kind of host you’d hope for when you walk into one if the oldest saloons in the southwest United States. I highly recommend the Grey Mule.

Just an awesome place. Sue is amazing and her cooking and cocktail skills are even more impressive. No matter what, try the chicken salad, an awesome Ray’s cocktail, and grab you some bottles of their great selection of wine on the way out.

We stopped in to see the historic Grey Mule Saloon and were excited that it was a wine tasting bar because we used to own a wine shop in Washington State. I tried all of the whites and my husband tried the reds. We also tried their sangria and a Ray’s spirits cocktail. Everything was delicious and the prices are great. Sarah was helpful, kind, and informative. We also enjoyed meeting two locals (a father and son), the father has been here since the 40s. The warm Texas welcome and hospitality was greatly appreciated. It was fun to talk about Texas and enjoy Texas wine in a historic building.
