We recently checked out the newly opened Safar in Lakewood, located in the former Tick Tock Tavern space, and it was such a great experience from start to finish. The atmosphere was warm, welcoming, and beautifully done, and the entire team was incredibly engaged and attentive. Our server Ricky was absolutely amazing—friendly, knowledgeable, and made the night feel special. The owner, cooks, and servers were all present and interacting with guests, which added such a personal touch.
We started with the Lychee and Kokum cocktails, and both were delicious and unique. For appetizers, we ordered the Dahi Kebab and Sweet Potato Chaat—the sweet potato and kale chaat was hands down my favorite and packed with flavor and texture.
Next, we tried the Jaadui cocktail and the Kulfi cocktail, and paired them with the Butter Chicken Tacos, which were such a fun twist and tasted amazing.
For dinner, we had the Jackfruit Kofta with Togarashi naan and the Halibut Moilee with saffron rice. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully plated—comforting but still elevated.
To top it all off, they surprised us with a dessert sampler, which included a flourless chocolate cake with raspberry sauce and a mango panna cotta. Both were excellent and the perfect ending to the meal.
Overall, Safar is a fantastic new addition to Lakewood—creative cocktails, flavorful food, great service, and a team that truly cares about the experience. We’ll definitely be back!
A total must-try if you appreciate great food and outstanding hospitality. I can’t wait to go back.
Thank you so much for our server Jasmine to make our experience a wonderful. And thank you so much for Chef Chetan, Chef, Pyaar, Chef Vinoth, Chef Mani and Chef Atul to give us such a amazing experience.
The ambiance was very enjoyable, and our server Elizabeth — along with the rest of the staff — was friendly, attentive, and made us feel right at home. They were truly great hosts.
Highly recommend this place, and we will definitely be back!
We had such an amazing experience at Safar! From the moment we started at the bar, we were impressed. The bartender was incredibly friendly, and the raspberry citrus cocktail was absolutely delicious — so fresh and flavorful, the perfect way to kick off the night.
We met up with my cousins (one of whom is vegetarian), and there were so many great options for everyone. We ordered a variety to share: papadam, pesto paneer, halibut, and short ribs — each dish beautifully presented and packed with flavor. I’m a huge mushroom fan, so the maitake tikka completely made my night. It was perfectly seasoned and cooked — I was so happy! The roti was unbelievably flaky and is a must-order. Don’t miss it.
Our server, Ely, was fantastic — attentive, warm, and genuinely welcoming. The service really elevated the whole experience.
We’re so glad we saved room for dessert! We couldn’t decide between the baked Alaska and the mango panna cotta, so we went for it — and it was the right choice. The perfect sweet ending to a phenomenal meal.
We’re so impressed with this beautiful new restaurant and are already planning our return visit. Highly recommend!
The food was good, but not particularly exceptional for the price point. One improvement that would make a big difference is offering spice levels, as that would allow guests to better customize their dishes. We also experienced a small order mix-up—we ordered the malai chicken but received the methi chicken. It was still good, but not what we had ordered and we’re not the type to send food back.
There were a few service and ambience details that felt like opportunities for improvement.
Overall, the hospitality and concept are strong, and with some refinements to service flow, cleanliness, ambience, and menu customization, this could become a much stronger experience.
