I DISCOVERED this spot the other week, great people even better food! I came for one of the themed hockey nights, my late husband Arnie loved sports. Tonight, my BF and I gave Discovery Bar & Kitchen a try for the first time. We ordered two burgers. I had the Double Matt burger, and my boyfriend had a burger with rye bread (I don’t recall the name). Unfortunately, the burgers were two of the worst burgers we have ever had in Chico. Mine was overcooked to the point that the edges were burnt, and there was almost no sauce to compensate for the terribly dry and underseasoned burger patties. My boyfriend mentioned that his was incredibly underseasoned and the bread was also burnt. It was what seemed to be a slow night for the kitchen, and the thought that we received two poorly cooked burgers, was incredibly disappointing.
The beer selection was great, but for two beers, the total was $19 before tip. Had the prices been posted, I might have reconsidered.

Discovery is an instant hit in Chico. Owned by Chico locals, the ambiance is exactly what I’m looking for while dining out with family or stopping by for a drink at the bar. The restaurant, bar, and restrooms were all clean and the whole place felt comfortable and welcoming. The staff is friendly and the food was prepared quickly and was DELICIOUS. My chicken sandwich was excellent and I don’t know what they fermented the coleslaw cabbage/carrots in but it was divine. Coleslaw can be such an afterthought at most restaurants but this was most definitely not the case. It was also served with a generous portion of string fries cooked excellently and not too greasy.
Note: the picture of the chicken sandwich was after I’d helped myself to a handful (or two) of fries.
Mississippi Mud Cake was divine. My kids devoured the buttery noodles and grilled cheese sandwich. The whole family was VERY happy and we’ll definitely be going back. I wish I’d taken more photos before my family had devoured everything.

Had dinner here last night. Beautiful bar with wood paneling which gives a nice ambiance. Interesting menu, nice presentation, food was very good. I will go here again.

We go to trivia there every week. The food is good, I love the Cobb salad, and the service from Katy-Ann and Kayla is great. It’s one of the few places that we like going to regularly.

I want to state wait staff and cook were excellent! That was about the only good part of my experience.
Food was mediocre, prices were insane. Ordered a $26 sandwich but on the bill it was 27.04 not including tax or tip, I guess at the bottom of the menu in size one font they disclose that there’s a 4% charge for using your card. Normally I have no issue with this, for restaurants that have this clearly displayed. This felt intentional and deceptive.
The food was okay, but not $27 (+ $4 for soup) good for a mid sandwich. Had it been in a $9-$12 price range I may have felt differently. The night before I had a steak and risotto at one of Chico’s best fine dining restaurants that was less money. It’s sad because I used to really enjoy this place but due to the crazy bloated pricing, I won’t be returning.
There are many better dinning options with higher quality ingredients for less money. Attached is a picture of what half of a $27 sandwich looks like.

The food is good, but the service is terrible. We were ignored by the servers. My husband had his credit card out to pay, and the male server made eye contact and kept walking. The other server ignored us even though we were right next to another table she was waiting on. We ended up having to go to the bar to order food. Another table nearby had people get there after us and they still got their food before we did. She was only focused on the table where friends of hers were sitting and completely ignored us. My husband ended up having to go to the bar to pay too. In the past the waiters were very nice and attentive. I don’t know what changed, but they need to fix it before they go out of business. We will not be going there again, since it seems they don’t want our money anyway

I’m a regular here and have been for several months. The pokemon bartender is so fun and the orange bartender always has some amazing alcohol recommendations.
The food is so good. I always get the foggy noodles or the Saturday night Caesar (add fried chicken). Get a disco marg too! Best in town!

The waitress was attentive, happy and helpful. Happy hour was great with $5 pints and well drinks. Happy hour also had some delicious apps including chimichurri shoestring fries, jerk chicken, chicken sandwich, and more. There’s a few TVs for sports including a projection screen that had NBA playoffs on. The other TV had a re-run of the Indy 500 but they were happy to change it to the NBA game. Cocktails and beer selection we’re plenty including IPAs, hazy, pale ale, stout and more.

Truly adore this staff. They are always extremely nice and attentive. The food is amazing and the atmosphere is so Chico. We have chosen this place as our rehearsal dinner space because we love everything about it.
