EAT Oyster Bar in North Portland is a great spot even if you’re not a huge raw oyster fan. The baked oysters are amazing, and the Mac-N-Cheese with crawfish tails, Andouille sausage, and biscuit crumb + Parmesan topping is an absolute must-try—rich, savory, and super satisfying. Also check out the sandos, seafood gumbo, and jambalaya if you’re in the mood for something hearty.
Overall: great flavors, fun spot, and definitely worth a visit.

My wife has been on an oyster kick recently; thus, I have been tasked with finding new and exciting places to shuck and suck throughout the region. Unsurprisingly, places with names such as “Eat: An Oyster Bar” are obviously going to get some immediate attention, as was the case this past weekend, when we stopped in for a dozen of the meaty molluscs, as well a cocktail or glass of wine, and a couple of appetizers.
Having enjoyed the Pickering Passage oysters that we ordered at a different place last week, we went with what we knew, and ordered a dozen of those, along with some fried pickles and okra. The oysters arrived swiftly with lemon, horseradish and vinegar, to join the basket of hot sauces already present at our table. My wife and I found the flavors that worked best for us, and made quick work of our slimy little friends, which were quite enjoyable! As for our sides, both the okra and the pickles were plentiful and breaded nicely, although the sauce that came with the okra wasn’t our favorite, and we substituted it out for other things.
Fantastic prices, excellent food, and excellent service; in short, all around an exemplary experience! Additionally, the rest of this restaurant’s menu specializes in Cajun/Creole cuisine, all of which looks wonderful, and is likely to draw us back in for that reason alone! And when it does, you can bet there will be some oysters to accompany our gumbo or jambalaya!
In short, if you’re looking for a little southern comfort, whether it be surf, turf, or both…just shut up and Eat!

A great oyster place on Williams Street in north Portland. They have oysters on the half shell at a reasonable price. And they are so good. They usually have several different kind of oysters. Their dishes are mostly Southern cooking. Their Po Boy sandwiches are the best. The service is good too.

This place is pretty cool when you walk in, its grab a menu and seat yourself style and its definitely got its own vibe. Thats pretty much where the cool factor stops. I wanted oysters and they have a solid selection. The menu showed all but one available. Our waiter showed up dropped the waters on the table asked if we were ordering, took my oysters order and then disappeared entirely for the following hour and 30 minutes we were in the restaurant. Didn’t ask my partner if they wanted anything. Didn’t ask if we wanted drinks. Notta. An hour later oysters arrived from a different staff member who informed me they were down to 3 and so he just gave me a dozen of the 3 types….which was highly disappointing as I am pretty particular and they put a type I knew I didnt love on their. First oyster had massive chunks of shell and grit, the rest even on ice felt slightly warm and just….unpleasant. of course the following 30 minutes no one stopped until I had my hand in the air with my card just so we could leave- so informing staff anything is wrong, or if you need anything like silverware, napkins, etc, is impossible. I did receive a 10% discount when the person who spotted me came over and asked how long we’d been there. I personally will not recommend or come back. The experience was not pleasant.

Not the best food. found a piece of shell in our oysters. the red beans and rice was basically soup. the seafood gumbo didn’t come with half of what it says it does. the catfish wasn’t actually catfish it was tilapia. the mac and cheese was just as watery as about everything else we ate. the bartender/server who helped us with our drinks was the best part of the experience simply because of the service. unfortunately the food was not up to standard, personally. the nastiest part was the taxidermy deer on the wall that were covered in dust and hanging over the table. not the best experience for food that was, in total for 4 ppl, was $144

Delicious food options and the best price on oysters we found in Portland! We had a selection of the 4 options they had for the day, and every oyster was fresh and well prepared, with a good selection of accoutrements. The wine list was decent, but the liquor selection and drink list were stand out. It was very cool to see proper absinthe preparation. Highly recommend, and I’d 100% join the oyster club if I lived close by!

Exactly what you’d hope for in an oyster bar. Great diverse selection of oysters, brilliant and wonderful little container for the mignonette. The other fare is great too, fantastic fried chicken (mostly boneless and perfectly cooked), wonderful biscuits, and their beer and wine selection is top-notch. All for a fair price with great knowledgable servers.
These folks know what they’re doing, highly recommend. Came by myself on a Thursday night.

Came here for a pre Thanksgiving with the family and it didn’t disappoint. First the service was great, and the food was amazing. The oysters were really fresh and sweet and all the food they served had the right New Orleans style flavors from the clams, frog legs, gumbo, etoufee, jambalaya, and the Mac n cheese that we kept craving for after we left… definitely we will come back for more…
This place is highly recommended.

I love having oysters when I’m in North America, and since I’ve moved abroad, I miss bars like this. EAT was great!
The menu was packed with a variety of oyster and other seafood options, making it hard to choose . The prices were very good, especially for the quality and variety offered.
I had a dozen oysters, which were fresh and delicious, amongst other snacks. The fried pickles were a delightful surprise (hard to find where I live in Europe!).
I dined alone and sat at the bar. The service was super friendly, informative, and everyone had a great personality, enhancing the overall experience.
A departing older couple came to the bar to thank the staff saying: “THANK YOU, this was DAMN great”.
If you’re a seafood lover, this place is a must-visit! Highly recommend!
