AVOID! Terrible disgusting food. Should call this place Momma NOs! Having had the unfortunate displeasure of wasting over $40 on 2 sandwiches and ribs, I can’t fathom the rave reviews. The old lady behind the counter ( I assume Momma No-No herself) barely engaged us, and when she did it wasn’t very pleasant. She seemed disinterested and annoyed – only mumbled to tell us they didn’t have. (Pulled chicken, rice, and salad). All the food came out of those cheap foil pans from the supermarket. Clearly yesterday’s left overs. The ribs were dry, tasteless and chewy. Had to be at least 2 days old. The collard greens were horrid – also dry and tasteless. Rough chopped, big pieces of stems. The beans, (served ice cold by the way) were just plain old beans – no pork, no bacon, etc. Bush’s baked beans from a can are far more tasty. The Mac and cheese was a wet soggy mess. Completely tasteless and overcooked. Kraft Mac ‘n cheese is far superior. Next up thr pulled pork sandwiches. I watched Momma NoNo scoop a big pile of pork from a foil pan on a Kaiser type roll, then bury it with a big splat of sauce from a plastic squeeze bottle. Gross. The pork was edible, but on the drier side and was ground into shreds. The Jack Daniels pork from the supermarket is way better. The sauce was tangy but again nothing special and might have been Heinz from a jar. To top of off, rolls were stale. Also when asked for some extra sauce on the side , Momma No No wanted to charge $2 for a tiny plastic cup of it. No thanks. In fact I wished I’d passed on the entire mess. I guess it survives because no one from GB knows real BBQ.

Driving in the area and stopped in because of other reviews. Did not disappoint. Best collards I’ve had in a long time. Everything else good too. Nice lady. Good prices. Quick service. Tiny counter service take-out shop, but there are tables just outside the door in the common areas, and also outside.

Phone did not eat first because I was so hungry! Stopped here after a hike and was not disappointed. Had the pulled pork sandwich with slaw and Mac and cheese. Slaw was phenomenal. Pork was tender and flavorful. Mac and cheese was creamy and delicious. Sweet people working there too:)

First off, having bbq in Great Barrington is a real win, long needed in this area. Beyond that, the folks running this place are incredibly friendly and warm, and purely on service I will be coming back. Food wise, having just spent 10 days in TX hitting up stellar bbq and smoking meats myself, I think they are doing a great job and it hits the spot. The fried chicken is fantastic, the brisket is tender, and I’d only maybe add some salt or jalapeños to the mac and cheese (but it’s perfectly good as it goes). Really great place, definitely worth a stop in!

On a recent trip from NY we stopped at Mama Lo’s for a takeout order of barbecue. Unfortunately, we arrive just beyond closing time and boy were we disappointed. Mama Lo saw the look on our face and quickly packed us up a an assortment of barbecue heaven. We chowed down later that evening on some of the most delicious and authentic southern style barbecue we’ve ever tasted. I’ll be making sure I arrive earlier on my next trip to Great Barrington so I can sample more of this delicious food. This food will not disappoint.

The food was good. Pull pork and ribs where tender . I’ve had better greens before. The mac and cheese needed a little more cheese and some salt and pepper, but it was still good . Last but not least, the Cole slaw was soooooo good. There is a smoking shack right behind the restaurant that will literally lure you in. Picnic style dining and free 2 hr parking. I’m glad we stopped by.

Great place for authentic Southern BBQ. Owner is super nice and makes it all from scratch. Put it on your list for spots to get some food for certain.

What awesome BBQ, had pork and brisket for meat. Better than what I’ve had in Texas and Kentucky! Cole slaw better than my Aunt Dosie in Ohio. Can’t wait to see that lovely lady and eat her great food the next time we pass that way.

We love this BBQ place and glad for its location. The owners are kind and work incredibly hard. We’ve ordered a large platter for a group of 5 and have also popped in for a quick lunch. My husband likes the brisket sandwich which overflows out of the takeout box and I’m a bbq chicken fan with all the fixings. We are big fans highly recommend.

The team here is so pleasant and kind—but, unfortunately—the food is a disappointment. I paid $40 for a combo platter that comes with two meats and a side. I don’t eat pork, so I got two pieces of chicken, baked beans, and Mac and cheese. The beans are uncooked and too sweet.
The sauce on the chicken was decent and the smokiness of the chicken was great, but the chicken was dry. The skin on the chicken was so leathery, I could barely eat it.
The mac and cheese was the worst I’ve ever had. Flavorless, dense cheese, and the noodles were over cooked.
