A great establishment starts at the top, and Stevo, the manager, is the heartbeat of this place. He runs Union with a level of grace and warmth that is hard to find. He made us feel like family from the very first greeting, and it’s clear his leadership style trickles down to every staff member. He operates the team with that same familial respect, creating a seamless, joyful energy that fills the entire room.
Our server, Theo, provided some of the best service I have ever experienced. His attention to detail was impeccable; he anticipated our needs before we even realized them. Whether it was the timing of the courses or his deep knowledge of the menu.
Then, there is the food. Chef Jared is a true master of his craft. Every dish that came out of the kitchen was masterfully designed and executed with precision. The balance of flavors and the quality of the ingredients were staggering. I can honestly say it was the best food I have ever had at a restaurant.
If you are looking for a place where the staff cares as much about your experience as they do about the food on the plate, look no further than Union. We can’t wait to come back.
The atmosphere is modern and stylish without feeling stuffy: think warm lighting, an upbeat soundtrack, a sleek open kitchen view downstairs, and a lively rooftop that’s great for drinks, live music, or date nights/girls’ nights. It’s got that “adult playground” energy the owners describe—perfect for everything from a special occasion to a fun night out. It can get noisy on weekends (especially on the terrace), but that’s part of the buzz.
The menu is eclectic and exciting, with standout dishes across the board. Highlights from reviews and diners include:
– The Crunchy Tuna Roll or Korean BBQ-inspired rolls—fresh, flavorful, and addictive.
– General Po’s Iberico Pork or seabass satays with miso glaze—creative twists that deliver big.
– Sushi options, the Union Burger, Korean Fried Chicken, and hearty mains like prime New York strip with crispy hasselback potatoes.
– Don’t skip apps like smoked fish dip or Parker House rolls, and cocktails are creative and well-executed.
Service consistently gets rave reviews—attentive, friendly, professional staff who make you feel welcome without hovering. Food quality feels a step above many competitors in the area, with fresh ingredients and thoughtful execution. Portions and presentation are on point for the price range ($$$, entrées often $24–$60+ for premium items).
Overall, Union New American delivers a memorable experience: amazing food, great drinks, vibrant energy, and top-notch hospitality. Highly recommend for anyone looking to elevate a night out in Tampa—it’s become a go-to for locals and visitors alike. 5 stars from me!
The atmosphere was relaxing music playing but not too loud as we could still hold a great conversation.
Food and drinks the bartender made some great old fashions and the food was delicious compliments to both.
I highly recommend getting the tuna crispy rice. At dinner, you get four pieces. The crispy rice is really flavorful, and they put really delicious tuna on top.
I also recommend their crispy chicken small plate. The chicken is also nicely seasoned and has a decent crispy texture to it.
I really enjoyed the smoked eggplant enchiladas. For being a main course, it’s quite a small entrée, but every bite is delicious.
The only issue is staff. I came here twice, once eating at the restaurant, once doing a to-go order. The waitress helping with the Togo order was incredibly rude when I tried paying. She looked frustrated, unhappy, and was quite rude directly to me as I mentioned I wanted to pay with a third-party payment processor that they accept.
At the end, I asked for my restaurant, and the waitress took my receipt that she had on her hand and crushed it in her hands into a ball. I was appalled, but luckily, I was able to get another receipt.
If you come here, just go eat at the bar as the bartenders are friendly. Avoid anyone that tries to assist at the front of the restaurant with to go orders.
The manager on duty advised that they would keep me posted once the table was available. I never got any message, update or an apology! We ended up eating at the bar & left. This is not a place that I’ll return to after this experience.
This reservation was done online, confirmed by email and again by phone earlier the day of. There were plenty of opportunities for the restaurant to let me know that there might be an extended wait due to multiple private events going on at one time.
