Went on a very snowy day and the lot was clear… Turns out the owner has a quad and actually can’t wait for it to snow so he could have fun clearing his lot. Gotta keep moving he says… Fun place and I love the à la carte meatballs, and rice balls… $2.99? Where do you see those prices in 2025?

Beloved local staple for great Italian sandwiches, entrees, and pastas. I personally like the #18 sandwich and the ranch chicken pasta salad. Lunch time can get busy with lines but it moves fast.

Ordered the grilled veggie sandwich without peppers and I was definitely underwhelmed. Sandwich was mostly dry bread with about four pieces of vegetable and one small sliver of cheese. Not worth $8. Took it home and toasted the bread, added cheese, olive oil, salt and pepper to make it appetizing.

Nona Clementina is the best place to get your lunch and catering.
I’ve been going there since 2002 and keep going back there when possible

As first generation Italian I am all about finding a great Italian deli.A friend suggested I try this place. Well I had company and decided to get a 3ft Italian Hero. I picked it up at 3:45pm because they close by 4pm. Wish I would have opened it before leaving. It was all bread! Thin slice of ham, cheese and salami. They were cut so thin and barely any lettuce and tomato. So disappointed. Never again! Oh and I paid $59.. ridiculous

Don’t even bother. I have tried 4 times now and there is always some rudeness, lack of courtesy, and very slow help.
Last year the rude woman at the counter ignored me while I stared at the counter. It was like she was waiting for me to greet her.
When she was “finally” ready to notice me I asked what kind of soup they had told me it was “bean” soup because they servie a lot of Spanish customers. She didn’t smile, didn’t say how are you, didn’t say how can I help you… no effort to welcome me to “her” establishment; just “what do you want.” It was so “rude” I never wanted to deal with her and didn’t try the store again.
I went in a week ago, hoping for a different experience, and, same exact thing only worse. The same woman was leaning on a counter eating lunch while I stood there. The owner was pre-occupied having a conversation with a woman at the counter BUT who wasn’t ordering anything. Finally, the woman asked if I was “ready” or something to that effect. She clearly had an annoyed tone like I was interrupting her lunch. I was annoyed with the woman who was literally shouting at the counter and the rude woman behind the counter…I should have just walked out. I was really hoping to find a good Italian deli… I guess now I know why Acinapura (formerly Isabella’s )is packed every day and this place is empty.
Finally, today, I go in and “same” woman doesn’t greet or acknowledge me but “clearly” sees me standing at the counter while she’s making a sandwich for someone else. Instead of helping me when shes done she walks over to a customer who came in several minutes after me and asks how she can help him. The customer had to point to me to say “I believe that woman was first.” It’s not a mistake – – this “owner” clearly does not believe she has to treat customers courteously and wanted to let me know I wasn’t welcome… so I get it now. You don’t want my business — happy to oblige.
It’s so rude and demeaning to stand there waiting for help and have someone completely ignore you..
Aso – fresh mozzarella isn’t ready until almost 11:00 and they charge $12.99 per pound which is crazy… I can getter better mozz cheaper and will do so from now on.
I, truly, have “no idea” why the owner is killing himself to put out good food and allowing his wife to mistreat customers
What is “so sad” is the owner literally looks like he’s working himself to death and puts out good food but allows the wife to behave this way. She is, sincerely, one of the rudest people I’ve ever dealt with in a retail environment and is, IMO, destroying his business.
Total joke of a situation. If it was one time I would say maybe I was in a bad mood and just irked — — it has happened every time I go in. This woman clearly doesn’t want certain customers in her store – – this is not a joke or an exaggeration.
I WILL NEVER, EVER, EVER SHOP THERE AGAIN…
I guess defending his wife’s arrogance is more important than running a good business..
Good Luck.

We ordered 8 feet of heroes for my son’s birthday party days in advance. I had my brother pick up on the day of because things were busy. First of all, the sandwich bread was stale. It was so hard and dry that a lot of the guests were leaving the bread to throw out. Second, there was so little meat and cheese in the heroes. It was actually embarrassing how awful these heroes were and we felt so bad for our guests. Of course it was too late to send back by then as the party had already started but I will NEVER order from them again and have been telling all the moms that are planning parties NOT to order from Nonna.

I have been coming to Nonna Clementina since I was in high school over 10 years ago. I love the sausage, egg and cheese breakfast sandwich which I just had this morning. I also love the mozzarella, chicken cutlet and roasted red peppers sandwiches. The staff is very hard working and trust me when I say there is a reason Massimo has kept this icon of a deli around so long in Closter! Great quality food and staff. This is a must visit!

I gave 2 stars because the service was relatively nice. I got a hero and the bread was hard enough to crack a tooth. Definitely not fresh bread. Contents of sandwich were quite weak and lacking, but it was difficult to get past the rock solid bread anyway. And yes, I like crispy fresh bread, but this was as close to solid as you get. Pasta salad was pasta, mayo and some very thin slices of carrot, thus bland.

I should’ve bolted out when the counter help didn’t know what Proscuittini was, so I guess its on me.
