Visiting Morganton, NC, and grabbed a meal as I arrived in town. Found Toluca Mexican Restaurant & Cantina. Small bar, decent selection of liquor and beer. Started with a shot of Don Julio Blanco and a Corona Light with Spinach-Chori Queso – yummy! Went for Taquitos and they were HUGE. I already ate 2 before I remembered to get photos. Other places make pencil sized roll-ups, not here! I was thrilled. I think you could get rice and/or beans, but I went off-script for Guacamole Salad. Everything has a good favor. I really enjoyed Toluca. Stop on by!

I ordered a burrito with only rice, bean, onion and queso. I had to take the first one back because it had peppers, broccoli, just every vegetable they have I guess and no rice, beans or queso. My order slip that was attached to the bag had my order correct ♀️.
I took the burrito back and they confirmed exactly what I wanted in it – but seemed annoyed with me. I got home started to eat and it’s an onion burrito with queso and some sparse pieces of rice and I haven’t found the bean yet. $12 for the onion burrito. 97 reviews and 4.7 stars I don’t know if this was an off night because the five minutes I was in there another lady came back and brought her food back that was wrong as well. Next time, I’ll just wait for mountain burrito to be open. I don’t like onions this much. Queso, chips and salsa were good though.

Bare bones Mexican spot with a small bar, but relatively large dining area. I ordered the chicken/shrimp fajitas (sans the tortillas). They have black beans, if you ask for them, but they taste a step above being directly from the can. Fajitas come with beans, rice, lettuce, sour cream, tomato. The chicken wasn’t seasoned (bland), but the shrimp had a great flavor. It was seasoned & mildly sweet. I left some chicken on the plate, but devoured the shrimp. I thought about adding salt/pepper, but decided against it. The chips were a step above stale & the salsa tasted like paste; it was bare minimum salsa. The customer service was exceptional. My waitress repeatedly came to check on me (although the check was given without prices — just the order). The music was authentic, as well as the feel of the place (e.g., decorations, music, paintings, soccer on bar TV). There was an appropriate price-to-portion size ratio. If the food was better, I’d give it a solid 4. There is a plentiful salsa bar.

I havent had the pleasure of eating inside the restaurant yet, I’ve only ordered door dash. But I have been so BLOWN away by this place. The food is out of this world every time. So flavorful and fresh. So damn good I was compelled to eat dinner there multiple times in one week lol.

I have ate here numerous times. When they first opened, it was great & so was the service. After today and after numerous visits and my order never being correct & every time I visited this restaurant, I’ve had to send my order back. I will never visit this restaurant again! After visiting numerous times and my order is wrong every single time we’ve visited this restaurant and having to send it back to get the order right & it still comes back wrong. Today, 12/11/25, I went in and ordered a number 7 on the lunch menu. I ordered a chicken and cheese enchilada. When the first number 7 came to the table, the tortillas were so hard that you could not even bite into them. So I sent the order back (as i do every time i’ve ate there) and asked them to put a correct order, in a to go box cuz I was already fed up after going here numerous times and getting the same service and they always screw up my order everytime! I asked them to put the new correct order in a to go box. They did but messed up my order AGAIN! I get home and they got my order wrong… again! Instead of putting a chicken and cheese enchilada, like, I originally requested. They put two beef enchiladas in my order, instead of a chicken and cheese enchilada. I cannot eat beef because I have heart disease. So my money was pure wasted!!!! I LEFT A GOOD TIP TOO, AND NOW I’M REGRETTING THAT.
I will not be returning to this restaurant again. My stepmother and I have tried this restaurant at least a dozen times and every time we go there, either our order is wrong or the tortillas are cooked too much to where you can’t even bite into them cause it’s so hard or they just get the order completely wrong to where I have to send it back every single time i’ve visited there. They don’t have the best service anymore! Especially when you have to send the food back every time you visited this restaurant. Some of the servers, don’t understand what you’re saying when you’re ordering the food. Which is a problem and could be a reason of why the food is incorrect and I keep having to send it back. I don’t know what the issue is, but I will not be returning to this restaurant again!
This restaurant needs to do better with their service and they need to learn how to speak english better, to make sure they get the customer’s orders correct. So they don’t have to constantly send the order back. It sucks, but I’ll never be returning to this restaurant again. I’ve wasted my money here, at least a dozen times or more.
