I was intrigued when I saw this place come up on my phone one day. It being is Harrison was perplexing because I couldn’t imagine where it could have been. The old Patsy’s turned into an elevated Italian American restaurant???
Upon entry, they have really freshened the place up. It was slow but as time went on the place filled with patrons.
We got the Mac and cheese balls, spinach and artichoke dip, short rib pappardelle , the spicy rigatoni with chicken cutlet, and a side of the char broccoli. Desert was the crème brûlée cheesecake and the tres leches. Everything was pretty taste! The dishes could have been hotter. Everything was kind of warm. The desserts were bomb.
Overall, I would go back to try more! I’m also interested in their brunch menu and vibes.

I first saw the menu on instagram and was very pleased to have a new local place serving American food. Something I feel was lacking in our immediate area so I decided to try the place right away. We found parking easily on the street, but I know from being in the area in the past that there are 4 free parking lots in walking distance to the restaurant. When I first noticed the outside of the restaurant I thought to myself, wow this place looks nice on the outside. When we walked inside, my feelings did not change. It was even nicer on the inside. We were greeted right away by the hostess and were brought over to our table. While walking to the table I couldn’t help but notice how big and stocked the bar was, including multiple tv’s (side note, looked like a good place to watch a ball game). The staff was attentive and our waitress came over right away and brought us water etc. What I liked was how they greeted us. They made us feel seen without rushing us. Something I feel alot of places now a days lack. We ordered drinks and I told the waitress I needed a few minutes because I am indecisive as to what I wanted to order. The waitress instantly recommend a few items on the menu which we ordered. We started with French onion soup and an order of buffalo wings. We loved the soup and the bread that was inside the soup and the wings were very good. For dinner, my date had the turkey burger with sweet potato fries, she ate the whole thing which means she really liked it. I had the crispy buttermilk chicken sandwhich which was recommended by the staff and boy was I not disappointed. The chicken quality was great and the sandwhich came together nicely. I am excited to try other items on the menu but it is going to be hard not to order that every time. For dessert my date insisted we get the chocolate delight Sundae which was huge. It can probably be split between 4 people but we took it down ourselves. Looking forward to going back soon!

Besides the great company I was with, the experience at The J American Grille added to the fun! The food was fantastic and the service was even better. Jarred took care of everything! I will most definitely return…

I had an amazing dining experience here! From the moment I walked in till the end of my stay 10/10.
My waitress, Maria, was absolutely fantastic — attentive, friendly, and made sure we had everything we needed without ever feeling rushed. She really added a special touch to the evening!
The food was outstanding. The branzino was perfectly cooked — light, flaky, and full of fresh flavor. The Italian fries were the perfect side — crispy, seasoned just right, and honestly addicting.
Overall, this place is a gem. Great food, a welcoming vibe, and exceptional service. I’ll definitely be coming back!

So, when you see all 5 stars, some people may be suspicious. I would be. But this is a legitimate 5 star review. We just hosted 2 family parties at the J American Grille, within 2 weeks of each other. I can’t say enough about how impressed I was from the service, to the food, to the attentiveness of the staff. From the initial booking experience with Jayson, the entire process was seamless. For each of our parties the food was delicious (as confined by a large Italian family), the portions were massive, and the staff was on point. I highly recommend The J American grill for any of your celebration needs. In addition to a great party venue, the restaurant offers a delicious menu of American classics, with several Italian options. Great food. Great bar. Great place. Highly recommend.

Was excited to try this place after seeing it on social media. Sadly it looks nothing like what you see online. Made a 7:30 res, showed up, about a dozen people waiting, no one from the restaurant in sight. After about 15 mins we left sadly.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Hands down one of the best dining experiences I’ve had in a long time!
From the moment we walked in, the service was warm, attentive, and genuine. The ambiance struck the perfect balance between cozy and elevated — perfect for a date night or dinner with friends.
Now the food… absolutely incredible. Every dish was full of flavor, beautifully plated, and clearly made with love and top-quality ingredients. You can tell the chef takes pride in every detail. The [insert standout dish — like “short rib pasta” or “branzino”] was out of this world — tender, flavorful, and something I’ll be craving again soon.
Cocktails were creative and well-balanced, and the dessert was the perfect ending to an already perfect meal.
Highly, highly recommend this spot. If you haven’t been yet, you’re seriously missing out.

This was truly the worst dining experience I have ever had in my entire life. At least as a parent. I had been looking forward to going here for weeks based on their Instagram photos. We rolled in for a 5PM Sunday reservation and the place was so empty I should have known something was off. Against my better judgement, we sat down and ordered. 4 of the 5 meals were truly inedible. We ordered buttered pasta for my youngest and asked for it to be “lightly buttered”. When it came, the waiter said “lightly buttered pasta” but gave him a bowl with a quarter inch pool of butter in it. My daughter’s nachos were horrible. We couldn’t tell what kind of meat was on them. The atmosphere was great, or at least would have been if there were any other people in the restaurant. This place is atrocious. It’s sad because it has a lot of potential.

Space is modern. Parking seems to be limited in the area so nice that they had valet Parking available. Food and service was very good. I was impressed with the Short rib spring rolls and the Filet Mignon was delicious. Our server was patient and pleasant. Very family oriented as there were a few tables with kids, but nice to know they had a dedicated bar space for adults only.
