A friendly place with a most helpful staff. Seating was immediate and courteous. The atmosphere is clean with great lighting and simple decore. They offer just about evey standard entre’. Fish, chicken, steak or burgers. I ordered the breaded catfish platter with fries. This dish can be used as a standard as it does not take much to ruin it. A am very happy to say mine was delicious

This is the first time we have visited Apple barrel Cafe.
We were greeted very warmly and seated immediately. The staff is super friendly and I love how everyone was all smiles and everyone checked on us.
The food was totally phenomenal for a diner!
Even though we went about 2:00 we decided breakfast would be the first thing we tried because my husband judges a place on their biscuits and gravy. Lol
I was even surprised that I could get sugar-free syrup for my pancake.
All the food came out hot and delicious. We will definitely put this at the top of our list of places to go.

⭐️⭐️⭐️ (3 out of 5 stars) – Veteran Warning: Discount and Tax-Exempt Policy at This Location

Service and food were good. Management was not.

Our server, Melody, was excellent, attentive, professional, and did a great job. Food came out on time and was decent. Based on service and food alone, this would be a 5-star visit.

The issue is management and how veteran benefits are handled at this specific location.

This location says it offers a military discount, but it is extremely restricted. Even if the veteran is paying for the entire family, the discount applies only to what the veteran personally eats, not the full check. If the veteran does not order a full meal and only orders a side (for example, fries), no military discount applies at all.

On top of that, I was told that you must choose between the military discount and tax-exempt status, and they will not apply both. Tax-exempt status is not a “discount”, it is a legal exemption that applies to qualifying veterans. Being told to choose one or the other is confusing and frustrating.

I asked to speak with the owner for clarification. The owner was present but chose to send someone else, who stated that other locations were “wrong” for honoring it differently and stood by this policy. The explanation was dismissive and did not clear up the inconsistency. C’mon, it would have been only a $5 discount on the entire $50 check.

To be clear, no restaurant is required to offer a military discount, and that is completely acceptable. The problem is advertising or mentioning one, then applying it so narrowly, and tying it to tax-exempt status in a way that leaves veterans feeling nick-picked rather than appreciated.

Veterans, consider this a heads-up:
If you eat at this Apple Barrel on 51st near Yale, do not expect the same veteran or military treatment as other locations. Expect to pay full price, and be aware you may be forced to choose between a discount and tax-exempt status.

Because of management’s handling of this, I will not be returning to this location, though I will continue visiting other Apple Barrel locations.

WOW! Right out the gate this place is beautiful. Very clean. Bathroom is top notch clean & loved the lit up mirror! Our waitress was Josselyn, very nice girl, very helpful, very sweet & topped off drinks! I had the chicken fried chicken which was perfect in proportion & filling. The mashed potatoes were good too. Also had a side of steamed broccoli with melted cheese. Side salad was good too. Very nice restaurant. We just left & have decided to go back n the morning for breakfast

Very conveniently located, right off Hwy 44 in Tulsa , Harvard Exit! On 51st Street. Great breakfast spot! They serve all kinds of delicious foods, but I go for the Sundowner/MeltDawn. Always friendly service. Plenty of parking. They have a bar in this one, to serve Bloody Marys and more. Great prices. Apple Barrel Cafe is a win for all ages!

As a black person this was my first time going and I will never go back! The rudeness what do I want i was asked?! Then the guy had nerve to ask what i ordered when i gave my name and told him i was picking up food upon my interaction with him! What if was someone else picking up my order how would they know what ordered and why did he not just ask them did they have an ordere for that name! The nerve! I trashed the food and went elsewhere!

The new Apple Barrel is a gem! All the favorite menu items, LARGE dining area, and a bar. Great service and very friendly staff. We’ve been to other locations around town and this one is by far the best.

Hashbrowns were overcooked. Basically turned into chips. Chicken was very dry and flavorless. Eggs and gravy were okay I suppose. Very plain and definitely not worth the price. Mother was dissatisfied as well.
