Nice little place for breakfast. It definitely was not busy the food was well made, nothing fancy. Coffee was respectable.the help was very attentive to our needs, but again it was very not busy. Seemed to be several people come in and make order pick-ups. It would be a safe choice.

We did the Sunday buffet. Very disappointed with the limited selection of food compared to the cost! There was no bacon and no fruit, breakfast staples imo. Lunch items included spaghetti and fettuccini, salad was not replenished. There was nothing “home-cooked” as other reviews mentioned, but maybe they don’t do that on Sunday?
Regardless, definitely not worth $33 for 2 people! 🙁

Food is good. The only problem is the service is really bad and don’t expect to get your food in less than 10 minutes. I ordered on DoorDash and waited. 30 minutes came in and asked to pick up their workers were a bit rude and when the food came out, it sat on the heater even after the cook called out my name twice the workers just stood there and ignored it. It wasn’t until the third time when the cook said my order, they grabbed it and gave it to me.

The garden veggie skillet was fantastic. My friend ordered a breakfast taco that came with a phenomenal creamy green salsa that I poured all over my skillet when she was done using it for her taco. The server was super nice. Great experience.

Had never been here before. Didn’t know the program, but seemed a little off today. There was a sign at the door saying to wait to be seated, yet I waited for probably 5min or more while several employees buzzed by, and no one offered help or even said they would be back to seat me. Someone clearing tables (not wait staff) finally asked if I had been helped, and I said no, so he told me to just find a spot and someone would be with me. Didn’t seem like it was part of his job, so kudos to him for noticing I wasn’t getting helped. My waitress didn’t show for a while. Once she did, it took quite a while for her return. She came by for other tables, but passed me up. I didn’t even get my drink until my meal was half way eaten, whereas I’m used to having a drink while looking at the menu. I ordered the bright side burger and chili. Both were pretty decent. Not out of this world, but worthy enough to try again some time. Fries were decent too. From my experience, food seemed good enough to try again sometime. Service certainly seemed lacking today, but I saw other servers buzzing around attentively, so I think it is possible that my issues happens to be with the particular server that I had. Therefore, since the food was decent, and it looked like other people were getting good service, I’m not going to dismiss the place from a lack of service experience this time, as I assume it was likely something that may not repeat if I try again. So I’ll give a good 4 stars at this point, and try again sometime to hope they hold the 4 star rating I gave them the benefit of the doubt on.

Stopped in for a late weekday breakfast after hearing good things about Brightside Cafe. The place was completely empty, which made for fantastic service and quick food preparation. I had the Denver omelette, served with hash browns and it was pretty good. With that being said, it’s astonishing how a breakfast order for one person costs twenty dollars including tax and tip in 2024 – especially when the bulk of the order is eggs and potatoes, two cheap foods especially purchased in bulk.

We were in Sioux City for a short time for our Valentine’s Day getaway.
Looking for somewhere to get a breakfast and we love to visit local shops including coffee shops.
We found the bright side cafe by searching Google for breakfast sandwiches.
My husband went in and ordered us food. He got me a bacon, egg and cheese croissant and he got a breakfast burrito.
We ended up having to wait for almost 30 minutes for our food and unfortunately by the time I got mine my sandwich was soggy and the bottom part of it was pretty much inedible.
Will give it a try again when we’re in the area. Otherwise the atmosphere is awesome and my husband enjoyed his burrito.

Was there today during restaurant week and had pleasant experience. Ordered Brightside melt for myself and 1/3 Cheeseburger for wife. Food was great. Young man helping us at counter was friendly and hardworking. Food was quickly served.

My dad and I came for breakfast while visiting Sioux City. We had an enjoyable time at this downtown cafe with a heavy Mexican influence. I enjoyed the breakfast tacos while visiting. I would definitely recommend this restaurant for a hearty breakfast while in downtown Sioux City!
