What a gem! This was our first visit. We’ll be returning often. My husband and I shared the grilled octopus to start. It was tender and tasty on a bed of arugula. We ordered rabbit and monk fish, which were the specials. Both dishes were cooked to perfection. The monk fish was baked in a tagine pot, drawing on the chef’s Moroccan influence, and the juices were still bubbling when it was served. I’m not sure how he captured such a variety of flavors in one simple dish. The service was friendly and professional. Our waitress recommended a bone dry Riesling that was perfect for the dish. The atmosphere is simple, beautiful, warm, and inviting. Le Quai is a wonderful find. I know we’ll be going back soon and often.

Went with a group of friends and we did share plates. Solid appetizers and entrees all around. Escargot was new for me, but it was quite tasty. I loved the grilled squid over arugula salad; the dressing was so light and refreshing on the fresh arugula. Squid was cooked to perfection. My main entree was the braised lamb shank. This thing was huge and falling apart from the bone! Very tender, and reminded me of the beef stew I make. Perfect! Definitely meant to share. Halibut was great as well, though I’m a sucker for capers and the duck was delicious too, and of course the desserts were spot on. Highly recommended for a date night and special occasions.
The staff were attentive and the owner even personally greeted us. I am a fan of the atmosphere and the service that they provided. Lovely night.

Gourmet. Not an inexpensive place to go, but priced right for the high quality and Gourmet food you get. Every dish, appetizer and desert was spot on in taste and presentation. Service was great. I would describe the atmosphere as quant with a touch of upscale,

This may be the best restaurant experience in the capital region – the food is amazing and it’s seriously off the beaten path – who would even think to go to Waterford to get authentic French food? It consistently blows people away when I take them here. Cool, friendly and they treat you like royalty – and then the food is just is incredible. Can’t ask for more than that.

Our first visit to Le Quai was within weeks of opening. Absolutely fabulous. Hard to believe since then they’ve polished this gem so it shines even brighter. Example – an extensive and exceptional wine list. Since losing Provence, Chez Nous and other French restaurants this is the finest French prepared recipes we’ve had since Paris. I could go on and on but my recommendation is go, meet Robert and enjoy great atmosphere, conversation and of course a true French Bistro dining experience.

Phenomenal place. Food was excellent, well flavored and beautifully presented. The service was impeccable except for one small issue. I couldn’t eat all of the lamb shank. I was asked if I would like to bring the leftovers home, including the bone. I said yes to both, but the bone was missing.

The ONLY authentic French meal in the Capital Region. Amazing wines by the glass at absurdly low prices, extremely authentic, thoughtfully prepared meals – the pâté takes DAYS to make. Everything from the branded French steak knives to the sparkling water being kept in an ice bucket tableside shows that this restaurant has unmatched attention to detail. C’etait un experience marveilleux!

I had the pleasure to take my lovely wife out on a date night here a Le Quai. Mo, chef and owner of the restaurant asked if we would want to come to a soft opening of his restaurant… I took him up on his offer and I’m glad we did.
Mo has been all over the world and has learned alot over time and brings his knowledge and experience to his restaurant and with his dishes he prepares. The menu will change on a continual bases due to everything is fresh. His menu will be posted by Tuesday every week on his Facebook page. He’s only open Wednesday thru Saturdays from 5 till 9.
Parking for the restaurant is along the street, as well as a parking lot across the street.
The restaurant is very quaint and elegant. It has that Bistro appeal with soft music and dim lighting. You are greeted at the door and sat. Served with bagettes and pâté. We order from his very nice elegant assortment of wines. A Red Blend from Portagul.
We order French onion soup and the aspargus salad for our appetizers. The French Onion soup was to die for!! Perfect in everyway…Not to sweet, not watered down or to thick…the beef broth was all homemade and brillant to the taste buds. The Asapargus salad was pleasantly simple but exploded with taste. Nice citrus favor and the asapargus was fresh.
The main course…she had Poulet Marocain (Chicken Tagine) with vegetable couscous. I had the Jarret d’Agneau (Lamb Shank) with mixed vegetables in a beef broth sauce. Both meats were so tender, you literally just used your fork. It came apart that easily and melted in your mouth.
Dessert was the cherry on top! Tarte tatin and Creme brulee. Tarte tatin is a classic apple tarts (tartes aux pommes) usually come in pretty crusts, sometimes filled with “compote” (apple sauce) or frangipane (almond cream), are topped with neat apple slivers, baked to golden perfection and often finished up with a shiny apple or apricot glaze. The apples were crisp and tart. (explaination off of the web) The Creme brulee was cooked to perfection…. The melted sugar cracked with the gentle tap of the spoon and the custard was elegant to taste.
So if you are looking for a new experience and help support a NEW Local restaurant for a nice date night with the wife or girlfriend. I would defiantly recommend coming to Le Quai!
Thank you Mo for allowing us to experience this very special occasion. We will be coming back. Congrats on your new endeavor!

Excellent food. Appetizer: The Vischyssoise was delicious. Our main courses of halibut and chicken were amazing! The service fantastic. The owner recommended a wine which complimented our dishes perfectly. We went with the almond and pear torte for dessert. We will definitely be back. My husband can’t wait to try the lamb during our next visit!
