My partner and I went here for a Sip and Slither event where we got to try new wines and learn about different species of snakes. The snakes were brought and shown by a nonprofit. It’s an old historic bank building and the downstairs is especially cool to see. They also have really delicious food like flatbreads and charcuterie platters. They carry THC drinks for those who don’t want alcohol. I totally recommend trying the food and maybe playing a board game downstairs. Definitely want to go again sometime.

Unwinded Winery Bar delivers an experiential standout that truly raises the bar for La Crosse’s social scene. The vibe is absolutely unmatched anywhere in the area—an intentional mix of sophistication, personality, and playfulness that makes you feel like you’ve stepped into a hidden gem.
If you’re new to Unwinded, as I was, you’ll be fascinated to learn the building once operated as a bank. That history isn’t just trivia—it’s part of the charm. The two original vaults (one upstairs, one downstairs) have been masterfully transformed into intimate seating nooks. It’s the perfect blend of being part of the energy while still enjoying your own tucked-away moment.
Then there’s the downstairs space— quite literally, a game changer. The basement is filled with games and activities that create a high-engagement, low-pressure environment for fun, laughter, and connection.
The design is intentional, well-curated, and anchored by its own bar and fireplace. It feels like your favorite lounge, your best friend’s game room, and a cozy winter retreat all rolled into one.
The wine selection is thoughtful and approachable, and the light menu offers just the right assortments to complement the evening. Add in the big window that frames the season’s nostalgia, and the setting becomes both memorable and magnetic.
And I can’t say enough about Megan—cool, welcoming, and effortlessly hospitable. She set the tone for a great night and made the experience feel personal in all the right ways.
Unwinded Winery Bar is absolutely one for your top-favorites list—or at the very least, a must-visit destination. Whether you’re there to sip, snack, socialize, or simply soak in the atmosphere, this place delivers an unforgettable experience from top to bottom.

A delightfully beautiful experience with Meghan’s exceptional taste recommendations. I highly recommend a wine flight to try the different luscious and fruitful wines. A personal favorite is the Italian Rosso Dolce, a sweeter dessert wine that is a picturesque way to end the evening. Would 10/10 return!

Wonderful and unexpected find. Very cool ambience and super chill location. The dimly lit, cozy space makes it perfect for a date night or a casual small group gathering. They frequently host events and have a good selection of wines. The owner was great and a pleasure to chat with, showing a real passion for the local community.

Love that it is little and more personalized than a normal bar. Love that the bartender can tell you about the seasonal drinks, and takes the time to describe what the flavor will be like and if you would love it! Love that they have earrings and wine related items for purchase! Love that the ambiance is warm, chill, and relaxing. Whether you have a fun night planned and it’s a starter, or hey let’s go here after work and chill, it’s a great place either way. Upstairs for smaller groups up to 4 or 5, either in the vault or at the front table. Downstairs is perfect for a bigger group, or private birthday party or wedding shower or baby shower! Great drinks and flatbreads and snack trays. You will love it!

This fantastic little place may be overlooked. The atmosphere is cozy. Offering two floors you can nestle into a corner of one of the safes or sit at the quaint bar and order a drink! You will receive pleasant conversations and accurate information to answer any of your questions. There is a wide variety of wines to choose from and seasonal drinks to keep you on your toes. This place is exceptionally cute! It is in a well refinished old bank. You can sit in the bank vault, the main bar area, or one of many cubby holes to relax and enjoy your friends and beverages. They were playing good music and the place has a great vibe for sitting and catching up with friends.

I had the hummus and pita. The red bell pepper hummus was delicious and the pita came warm and soft. It was delicious! I asked for a surprise red wine pairing (by the glass). The bartender (and owner) picked a pinot noir, and it was also delicious!

I will definitely be back!
