Update 7/19/2025
The chicken teriyaki is now much better! No more salty! I think it could be adjusted to be a little more sweet. Adding back 1 star.
But… The price went from $8.89 just 3 years ago to a whopping $11.72 today with tax! That’s an inflation of $1 per year! Very bad! Please bring back the prices to $8 or $9.
Knocking off 2 stars.. the sauce is now salty instead of sweet. And by salty, i mean too much salt unfortunately. I think i will skip suki hana next time im here. This was twice in a row now that the sauce is too salty and no sweetness at all.
If the owner or manager reads this, please bring back the sweet teriyaki sauce.

Suki Hana is a great Japanese Teriyaki chicken restaurant inside the Garden State Plaza mall. This replaces Sarku Japan’s spot. The chicken is delicious and they have other menu options too. I was here on the opening day in March 2022. The employees are friendly. The prices are very good at $9 per meal with tax(no drink). The drink prices are a bit high, but thats true of the entire food court. Since this was the first day, they were a little slow at making the food. But it was worth it! The chicken tastes a little better than Sarku and is a little more sweet and a little less salty too.
Pros:
Yummy Teriyaki chicken!
Also have beef, noodles, shrimp and other items
Good drink selection
Friendly employees
Acceptable speed, but a bit slow on opening day
Great location
Plenty of seating
Real plastic straws!!
Cons:
Slightly pricy drinks(but same with entire food court)
No plastic bags(not sure why not? Othet malls have plastic bags for takeout food. Common sense)

I had concerns during my recent visit to this restaurant regarding food safety and hygiene practices. One of the staff members, identifiable by a ponytail, was handling food without changing gloves, and the gloves appeared visibly greasy. Additionally, I noticed someone cleaning the upper part of the grill while chicken was cooking on the side, which raises serious cross-contamination concerns. I hope management addresses these issues promptly, as cleanliness is essential in any food service environment.

The best chicken teriyaki in Bergen county! The staff is so friendly and welcoming. Please check them out if you’re in the area and tell them Paul sent you

If you’re at the mall and craving something savory, filling, and fast, Suki Hana delivers exactly that. The Chicken Teriyaki Special is probably the best bang for your buck, and the bentos make for a more complete meal if you’re hungry enough. Just be aware that extras and seafood options can add up quickly.

They give very little portions of chicken for a meal you’re paying $12 for.

I am surprised at the bad reviews for this place. Of all the options at the garden state mall food court, this place is one of the few healthy ones, precisely because it is not drenched in heavy, excessively sweet teriyaki sauce or gravy or fried, like the other asian options. Every time i am in this food court, i see a long line for this place- and it’s not because it is the cheapest, as people have mistakenly implied here. The food is just cleaner and healthier. A lot of people that work at the mall order from here. Don’t compare this place with Sarku, which is like the cheesecake factory option. And they don’t use MSG. And I have never gotten sick from undercooked food from this place.
