This is the best pizza in the region! I recommend the calzones! The Shoppe won best pizza in Nelson County for good reason! If you have a large group just give him a call ahead of time so he can have it ready for you when you arrive. Blane the Pizza Guy is everything wrapped in one…chef, drummer, guitarist, blade sharpener, and local legend! This is the kind of place you can go to and keep going to!

Terrific made from scratch pizza and calzones, yummy garlic bread w/cheese and sauce for dipping. This is the definition of hole-in-the-wall local dining, which we love. You actually enter through the kitchen, which is also where you pay. The owner, Blane is a fun free-spirited person who loves what he does, and loves singing along to music. He is a hard working one-man-show.

We were in New Haven for the Santa Express Ride and decided to eat here based on the reviews. At first we were hesitant. But we decided to come in and take a seat. What a friendly, and hard-working man! Do not turn around when you enter. You would be making a mistake. The pizza and cheese sticks are
delicious! The kids loved it, too! They are quite picky. I actually feel like going there uplifted my spirits. I think you should go in and try it out. You won’t regret it.

Got the Meatlovers, Supreme (a bit too many green olives so I’d request those off next time), and the Blane special (cranberries,bacon,red pepper strips)…sounds crazy but it works! Dude is wild and fun to talk to. Shop is cluttered but the food was great will be back next time we are in town! (btw to go only no seating but the town nearby is a cool little place). Call ahead and order as its all “made from scratch” 4 larges took about an hour.

I haven’t eaten here yet but I met the owner today while I was out taking my kids for a walk, and he was out bringing his friends dog to the nursing home to see her puppy. My son was super thrilled about seeing the dog.

Had the Mama Cass calzone, and it was excellent. This place is a unique small town one man show, for sure. I am sure the locals appreciate the sole proprietor’s work. I consider myself a lucky out of towner for having found it.

Today my family visited the Train museum across the way. We were walking around the train yard outside of the museum and I kept catching an amazing smell of pizza. Once we left the museum I saw the pizza shop right up the street and had to stop. I’ve never had such a cool and unique dining experience. It really topped our day! Would visit again
