This place is amazing my first time this Sunday I went with my friend and I. Started with miso soup & had many rolls following. There was a new server there named Megan and she was wonderful very helpful and welcoming made us feel at home! We def will be back this is our new favorite spot 🙂

I’d recommend the 7 pc omakase or the tuna spicy rice!! Those are my new favorites from this location!

The sushi was very fresh, and the A5 Wagyu was so tender! Definitely high quality food here. The ambiance was great as well, with nice music playing.

Such a hidden gem in Moorpark! Every time I’ve been here (5) the fish is super fresh and absolutely delicious. Staff is super kind. Service is quick and efficient. Completely satisfied after every meal. Super low key atmosphere. Run don’t walk to try this great little place.

If you’re in the area or you live in the area, you must come to Sister Sushi. By far, one of the best sushi restaurants in Ventura County. Very fresh fish, with a professional sushi chef. Everything is excellent, from the appetizers (baked green mussels, cucumber salad, edamame), to the nigiri (king salmon, yellowtail belly, black snapper), to the rolls, to the speciality items (hero handroll). Whenever I want some sushi, I come here.

My favorite sushi restaraunt in moorpark and has been for many years. Everything is good. I love they have a tasty cucumber crab salad, plus Albacore special rolls, tuna mango crunch and something about the honey roll always sweetens me up. The fried rice squares and tuna app is delicious. And ever speciality roll ive had ive like.

Would recommend 10/10. I would eat it right now (and daily) if I could.

Udon was bland. cut roles were not round but messy like. I had to wonder if I could’ve made them myself. Sushi cuts were small portioned. They also try to charge us more than the menu listed luckily I caught that. Food I always order my spicy tuna Rolls and california roles. Nothing special about them. Don’t think I’ll go back here again.

Sister Sushi: Moorpark’s Quiet Masterpiece of Freshness and Craft

Right on the main road in Moorpark, Sister Sushi sits humbly—unassuming, almost easy to miss. But behind that quiet exterior is a place that’s been serving up some of the freshest, most authentic sushi around for years. Not many people know about it, which is honestly surprising considering it’s hiding in plain sight. But maybe that’s part of the magic.

In a town where many sushi spots lean into mayo-heavy rolls and sauce-drenched creations to mask subpar fish, Sister Sushi stands in quiet defiance. Here, the fish is the star. You don’t need to drown it in anything. The sashimi is clean, cold, and sliced with the kind of precision that speaks to experience and respect for the craft. Every bite reminds you what sushi is truly supposed to be—simple, intentional, and deeply satisfying.

The rolls are balanced—not overloaded with toppings or gimmicks. You can actually taste the ingredients: the delicate flavor of the fish, the subtlety of the seasoned rice, the craftsmanship in the build. Nothing is rushed or careless. It’s all done with heart.

And then there’s the vibe—modest, welcoming, and authentic. No trendy decor, no Instagram gimmicks. Just chefs focused on their work, regulars who know what to order without looking at a menu, and a quiet confidence that doesn’t need to show off. It’s the kind of place where you can sit at the counter, watch the knife work, and feel like you’re part of something sacred.

Even though it’s been around for a long time, Sister Sushi still feels like a hidden gem. It’s the kind of spot that locals protect and sushi purists fall in love with. Every time I bring someone new here, they have the same reaction: “How did I not know this was here?” And every time, I smile—because now they do.

So if you’re driving down the main road and craving real, honest sushi—stop at Sister Sushi. Don’t let the simplicity fool you. There’s brilliance behind those doors. And once you’ve experienced it, you’ll understand why those of us who know it… keep coming back again and again.
