The Saturday Brunch special was perfect! Our first time here and was able to sample so many cajun staples at once. Shrimp and Grits was genuinely delicious amd the shrimp texture was pure perfection. Fried Chicken was like my pawpaw used to make. And the fried catfish…..I could eat my body weight in the catfish.
We will absolutely be back on a Friday for music amd drinks.

Upgraded to a beautiful dining room with a stage, good prices, and good food. Much bigger inside than it appears from the outside.

Complete lunch meals are just $12. Catfish was good, burger and Mac and cheese too, though i wish the Mac was a little bigger.

Live blues/soul/jazz on Fridays, music centered setup. Will be one of our three in-town regular date spots.

Laid back atmosphere & music. Excellent music & interior designing choices! I had The Bayou while I waited for my to go order & it was phenomenal. Ordered the red beans & rice & they were the best I’ve ever had. Everyone was friendly & welcoming. The place was spotless! Will definitely be back & recommend to everyone I know!

Displaced from the ice storm and been trying out restaurants around town all week while staying here. This is the only one that made me want to leave a review. Not quite perfection but still an easy 5 stars for me. Did a takeout order, but it’s a cozy little hole in the wall spot and all the employees were very friendly just walking in to pick up. Never had boudin balls but got them as the starter and they were terrific. The catfish is the best I’ve had in or around Nashville so far. The fried chicken had some of the best breading I’ve had on any fried chicken. The beignets were the size of my palm and fried perfectly with a good amount of powdered sugar but not too much like you get at a lot of places. The yams and cabbage were excellent. Only couple critiques of what I got to try would be the collard greens need a little spicy kick and the mashed potatoes need a little more love, not sure exactly what. These are just personal preferences keep in mind. Will definitely be making the 40 minute trip back out just to eat at this place no question. Yall natives better keep this place alive.

I visited Southern Biyou in Spring Hill and had a mixed experience. The food itself was good, and the atmosphere felt lively and welcoming at first. Unfortunately, the service changed the tone of the visit.
As a Black man, I didn’t feel genuinely welcomed, even by people who I expected would understand the importance of hospitality in our community. The host was overly eager and made promises that didn’t match the actual experience. He told us the buffet was all‑you‑can‑eat for $30, but once we got in line, we were told we could only get one meat and two sides. Portions were small, and when I asked for a little more, the staff looked annoyed. My plate looked like a kids’ meal, and if you care about your energy and what you put into your body, you wouldn’t want a second round anyway.
My friend asked for a tea with no ice, and the woman at the front responded, “You’re going to take all my tea,” even though we had already paid based on the original pricing.
This restaurant has real potential, but the overpromising, inconsistent communication, and penny‑pinching make the experience feel lazy and, at times, like a scam. That’s the worst feeling when you’re simply trying to enjoy a good meal.

We visited this place for the first time last night. The atmosphere was beautiful. it was definitely a vibe. They do special events with live music and even gospel karaoke soon.
The wait staff was so helpful in deciding what we wanted to eat. My wife ordered the sweet chili wings and I ordered the catfish and candied yams. The food was very good and we just enjoyed great service in an amazing atmosphere.

My husband and I ate here today for the first time! I had the voodoo fries, which were absolutely phenomenal and soul-nourishing. My husband had the voodoo catfish, which was so flavorful and perfect. The atmosphere is so cool, and the staff were so welcoming and friendly. We are so excited to come back!

I was in town for work and decided to check out some spots for dinner and man oh man did I strike gold. I’ve always wanted to try soul food and was not disappointed in stopping here. Enjoyed it so much I have to stop by one more time before I leave, definitely recommended.

Hidden gem! One of the best spots in town for a good lunch. Everything is always good and freshly prepared. I would recommend the fried catfish, collard greens and dirty rice. Fish is always hot and crispy, but not overcooked. The owner and staff are always friendly and welcoming. We have not been at night, but plan to come in to see the band soon! So glad to have them in the neighborhood.

First let me say that I lived in Louisiana and love the cuisine. This place does an amazing job bringing the flavors of Nola to Spring Hill! We had the Fried Chicken and the Red Beans & Rice and all I can say is: Laissez les bons temps roule!
