We went here on a Friday night during the off season, so we were able to walk in and get a table. The food here is really good quality. We took advantage of the LA Restaurant Week menu and got a salad, garlic bread and a pasta. The salad is a Caesar, and it’s pretty creamy, cracks of pepper and overall a good portion before going into the next item. The garlic bread was so strong with the garlic in a good way, especially if you love garlic. If you don’t love strong garlic flavor, I would not recommend to those individuals. The bread was toasted and crisp but soft and chewy – not something that hurts the mouth. The pastas were a great portion size and my husband and I ate half our plates and switched to eat the rest of each other’s order because it was excellent. The Yuzu Pasta was light, refreshing, and the pancetta gave that bit of salt and umami to the dish. The Curry Bolognese was great. The Japanese Curry flavor was not overpowering but just a flavor profile woven into the texture of the sauce mixed in with Wagyu beef and pancetta to create more depth of flavor. Soooo good! I highly recommend the beer because it is light and crisp, great to accompany carbs. The matcha latte was a treat to myself and was a good call – it was not sweet and I truly got to enjoy the flavor of the matcha. I also loved the vibes of the restaurant. The way it was decorated reminded me of the local Italian food restaurant and the lighting was great for a date night. Recommend this place!

Surprisingly aldente Noodle was good. All American Italian cook too much and this place was very good at it. Still too salty but that’s what you get in United States. I want Italian food to be not too salty but I guess that’s how it should be here. Tasteful pasta was good enough. Garlic bread was not so salty and enough garlic. Salad was good. Macha latte was bomb, they use real Macha I think. Servers, I do have a problem. Not good at serving people. It would be ok if this place was in Italy but then if you act like Italian server, there should be no Tips. But this is not a Michelin star restaurant and I don’t want talk about service but only food.
I would take my guest here but not Italian friend. Overall food? Good !

Unico Tokyo Pasta is a nice spot for a date night or a casual hangout with friends. The vibe and decoration are modern and relaxed, so it’s a comfortable place to sit and enjoy dinner. The pasta dishes are decent and taste good, but nothing really stands out as memorable. The staff is super friendly and gives good recommendations, but overall this is the type of place you try once and probably won’t think about going back again. The pasta prices are on the higher side, and the portions are just standard.

Quick tips:
You can make reservations through Google Maps, but the restaurant usually isn’t very packed at night.

There’s plenty of parking shared with the pizza place and nearby shops behind the restaurant, plus street parking.

Was really excited to try this!
I liked the drinks, especially the White Peach Margarita was tasty and easy to drink.
I liked the hardness of the pasta. Only thing is that the Garlic Chicken was bland. I thought there will be more punch of garlic but there was no hint of garlic I could taste.
My friend got the Uni Truffle and that had more flavor.
Service was super great and attentative.
I gave the food a 3 because it is on the pricier side. Would have gave a 5 if my Garlic Chicken had more flavor. Or maybe have condiments to add the flavor would have been great.
Overall great atmosphere, drinks, and service.

Ordered take out. The food was pretty good, but the soup wasn’t even half full… It’s like someone drank most of it before packing it in the bag. Pasta was tasty and al dente. Lacked sauce though. They could give me a bit more parmesan on the side. Only got a little bit. Plenty of parking in the back and not much people there when I went there almost at 2 PM. Would come back to try other pasta.

Interesting Japanese-Italian concept and a lively space. We tried the one vegetarian pasta option and a couple of other dishes (which weren’t vegetarian), but the flavors didn’t quite land for us. The vegetarian pasta lacked the umami depth we were hoping for. Clearly popular, just not a fit for us.

Place was a hidden gem! I mean hidden loosely since I have driven by for years and finally stopped in for dinner with our 3yo. The food was amazing and they had a great option for the little one as well! Great atmosphere and dining setup with good noise and liveliness.

I really wanted to like this place given its attempt to take on a Japanese and Italian pasta fusion.

Everything tasted fine, but it was very standard. There wasn’t a dish that stood out. I was most excited for the uni truffle pasta. However, aside from being able to taste the ocean saltiness and some artificial fragrance of truffle, there was just something missing. The noodle itself was the most disappointing. Tasted like grocery store bought ones such as Barilla. I didn’t expect them to be homemade, but they could’ve sourced it better.

The price is average. I will say the only redeeming qualities are the quantity and well decorated interior. Plenty of free parking in the lot. Unfortunately I do not think I’ll be returning.

We came here for the DineLA experience and it was definitely a solid choice. We had to deduct a star because they had run out of Cauliflower Soup as the appetizer, the Unico Salad Panko wasn’t as warm and crispy as we would have expected and the Garlic Bread was just average. The Garlic Shrimp and Chicken Shisolico were delicious but someone in our party thought hat instead of fusion, we had basically ordered two italian dishes with hardly any “Japanese” in the food. We will come back here and try one of the other dishes and will update this review.

A delicious and unique dining experience! I love both Italian and Japanese food so this fusion restaurant was right up my alley. The white peach margarita was enough for me to come back! It took me a long time to order because everything sounded so good! We ordered the curry bolognese and the uni truffle pasta- both went beyond our expectations! Can’t wait to try more dishes in the future!
