I was greeted as I came in and the man was super friendly. Nice atmosphere, quiet. I ordered the cheese enchilada and beef taco combo with red sauce. The sauce is so good I dip my taco in it. It’s addicting I had to bring some home . I reccomend this place so stop in , you wont be disappointed

The environment inside is just small but the service is quick and efficient. The food is actually really good the fries I had no complaint maybe just that the meat taste chunky but good but overall for one plate of fries it’s 18$ way to expensive.
Good portion size to but only because they pack many fries they put to reduce amount of meat so that kinda sucks. The taste of the food is 8 out of 10 though I would come back for maybe something cheaper.

Service was absolutely amazing and the food came out almost instantly after we ordered, would highly recommend we got carne asada fries and it was a very generous portion, with the incredibly well balance of salt, cheeses and avocado. This exquisitely served dish was of upmost highest of quality nothing short of ineffably delicious.

Castanedas is a mom and pops business that prepares and serves great quality Mexican food. Today, I tried their fish burrito and added fries. It was awesome and delicious. I highly recommend this place if you are in City Heights and are craving Burritos or tacos. They also have Mexican dishes that look delicious. Enjoy!

Was craving Mexican food, saw this place had 5 stars, and have to agree! Really delicious, and it was quick and super hot. Ordered rolled tacos, chicken and mushroom quesadilla, and horchata. The horchata was super delicious, had strong vanilla notes and was very creamy. The chicken in the quesadilla was flavored really well and overall really tasty. The rolled tacos were clearly made in house, perfect crunch and flavor. If you play Pokemon Go there are also 4 pokestops you can spin from this place. Friendly staff too, really clean inside. Will come again!

I saw this new spot in the area so decided to give it a try. Came here on a Monday night and got the half order of Carne Asada fries. Carne is decent.. it was well seasoned and not dry like most other places. Nothing spectacular about these Carne Asada fries, though. Cheddar cheese, crema, and guacamole.
Two stars because the fries were undercooked and a little soggy. I was the only person in the restaurant so there was no excuse. The hot sauce is delicious though and they weren’t stingy with it at all.
Considering the portion size and soggy fries, $10 wasn’t worth it and overpriced compared to other places. Going to go here again to give it another shot, though. Two stars for now.

The shredded beef and chicken tacos are pretty good! The red salsa is also quite tasty. The indoor seating is limited, but that’s just the nature of some University Ave storefronts. I’ve always liked the Castanedas in Chula Vista, and this is a good satellite. Recommend the hard-shell tacos!

First time in the restaurant. The first thing I notice was how clean the place was and the friendly service. I had a carne asada burrito, I felt the meat was lacking flavor and I was not so crazy about the hot sauces they offered. I will go back and try a different dish. I can’t really rule them out yet.

Drove around for 15 minutes looking for parking only to find out they aren’t open at 8am despite it saying they are. No posted hours either. That’s the second taco shop like this. Unacceptable

Excellent freshly prepared food by an extremely friendly staff. This place is awesome. We grabbed dinner for 6 for less than 100 bucks – everything was wonderful. I’ll be back, love finding a family owned spot that does so much so well.
