Light, lofty and stylish venue at Peppers Silo with a lovely view. Staying at the hotel, I dropped by for breakfast – but, after trying it out, would gladly come back even if not staying in-house. I had the hash brown with zucchini and scrambled eggs that were fresh and flavourful, beautifully presented. And the next day I had the Benedict, and day after the pancakes – everything was really good. Good coffee, lovely staff, great start of the day!

An update: the dinner service is phenomenal! I had a couple of oysters, the raw fish starter, market fish main and honey cake for dessert – with surprisingly inspired wine recommendations. While the fish was very nicely cooked, what sent me over the moon was the depth of flavour the veggies were packing. The lightly pickled cucumbers with the starter and the tomato thingy with the main were absolutely on point and remarkably delicious. Chef’s hat to the Grain of the Silos, please!

Second time here and a different experience as far as service goes.
If you are in the cafe for food prepare to wait for food as you line up with the hotel patrons as one kitchen does all.
Counter service was awkward stood there for quite a while until someone could attend .
Best to avoid the cafe until after 10am perhaps?
If you are a child then maybe the portion size is sufficient? Definitely not worth paying for scrambled egg on a piece of bread .Had to search for a clean glass and the best I could find I later found lipstick on the edge of the rim.
Good place for a coffee and that’s it .

The meals we had for dinner and breakfast were amazing. Even the kids pasta was so tasty. We had a few cocktails and they were great. There was a slight error with one however the staff was happy to remake it upon request. The service was attentive and friendly. We are from interstate and honestly was a fabulous dinner for my 30th compared to some local places we go.

I enjoyed a delicious meal at Grain this evening. The atmosphere is lovely, the service is relaxed yet top class (thank you Georgia for being an attentive and gracious host!). Most importantly the fish of the day, paired with a side of potato gratin and a superb glass of local sparkling made the entire evening a very satisfying experience. Well done, team! Highly recommended.

Fantastic dinner here, great food and wine menu. Lovely staff (Shona was a delight!). The burrata and steaks were incredible, as were the potato and salad sides. Lovely ambience.

We recently stayed at the Silo’s Hotel and frequented Grain of the Silos for Breakfast and Dinners. Having stayed at many Accor products the restaurant surpassed our expectations and delivered on all levels. The staff were warm, friendly, knowledgeable and accommodating. The food was delicious and our party of 4 would all recommend a visit to Grain of the Silos on your next trip to Launceston.

I thoroughly enjoyed dinner at GotS over the weekend. The service was excellent, the food and wine marvellous and the restaurant itself, lovely. I enjoyed a pre-dinner drink at the Seaport and a nice stroll along the Riverbend on the way home. I’d recommend GotS to anyone who appreciates great food and wine, local produce and a fine dining experience.

Eating at your Hotel restaurant can always be a bit of gamble but Grain on the Silos was a definite winner. Our waiter Theodore was knowledgeable, charming and unobtrusively efficient. We followed his recommendation for the tasting menu paired with Tasmanian wines. The food was a masterful blend of great Tasmanian produce paired with unusual sauces and finishes. The wines paired perfectly with each dish and we appreciated Theodore’s knowledge of the boutique wineries we had not discovered yet. The only slightly disappointing moment was with apple spelt cake which I found too dry ( I would have injected it with Calvados!) but the fennel ice cream was great. We will be back with family and friends! Reservations recommended.

The seating outside was the highlight of our visit.

The drinks took 15 minutes at get out to us, by which time the tea was barely warm. The coffee was fine, but the muffins may have been around since the Berlin Wall fell.

Again, good seating, but this can only account for so much when the food and drink is way below par.

Don’t serve old muffins, it can’t be that hard, especially in an establishment joined to one of Launceston’s premiere hotels.
