I’ve never been here in the area yes but not here. I was looking for Jollof rice and called a couple of place and ended up with Manding. I can in and it’s a half African shop and half African restaurant. I came to the window and was able to look straight to the back where I’m seeing a lady washing dishes and another’s walking around cleaning and the other lady stated she’s coming. Cleaner and organize is what it can use but hey I’m just a 1st time customer.
I received my food and processed to go to my mothers for the night. Where I made her a plate that looked good at the time and I even added purple onions. About a minute later my mother beings me her plate and say watcher out for what you are eating I immediately looked over to her plate and there was hair hanging from a piece of me that my mother was holding up. I looked more and into it and I kid you not there was hair in majority of my plate. Which was that chicken Jollof rice plate. I’m pretty sure if it was not for the family and friends of the family or just friends giving good reviews it would not be in the 4.6 or a good place to eat. I just know I better not be sick!

Nestled on Old National Highway, Manding Cafe is a true treasure that captures the vibrant essence and rich culture of West Africa right in Atlanta. As someone who has a deep appreciation for natural juices and hearty, wholesome meals reminiscent of the comfort food that fuels the spirit (much like what Popeye the Sailor Man felt) I was eager to dive into the offerings at Manding Cafe.

Walking through the doors, I was greeted with warm smiles and the enticing aromas of spices that instantly transported me to a place filled with joy and comfort. The decor, adorned with elements reflecting the Manding heritage, created an inviting atmosphere that felt like home.

I began my meal with a refreshing natural juice that was a harmonious blend of flavors, invigorating and uplifting with every sip. It was the kind of drink that fills you with energy and warmth, setting a perfect foundation for what was to come.

As I enjoyed my meal, the experience was akin to the delightful feeling Popeye gets when he consumes his beloved spinach; a sense of vitality and fulfillment washed over me. Each bite was nourishing, leaving me with a sense of deep satisfaction and comfort that warmed my heart. The textures were delightful, offering a fulfilling experience that felt both enriching and soulful.

The attentive and friendly staff added to the overall experience, providing insights into the dishes and the culture they represent. Their commitment to sharing the joy of Manding cuisine was palpable, radiating positivity and a genuine sense of family.

What truly resonated with me during my visit was the ambiance infused with a spirit of peace, love, and prosperity—values that seem to permeate every corner of Manding Cafe. It’s clear that this establishment is not just about food; it’s about creating an experience that uplifts and nourishes the spirit.

Overall, Manding Cafe is a vibrant culinary haven in Atlanta, perfect for anyone seeking the rich flavors of West Africa. It’s a place that nourishes not just the body but the soul, much like the comforting meals that bring joy and energy to life. I’ll certainly be back for more of that uplifting spirit and delicious nourishment!

Thank you Mrs. Binta!!!

Relaxed atmosphere everyone seems to be friendly, they have a variety of sells items. So it’s pretty much a restaurant mixed with a store. Sort of like a one stop shop. It’s been open for a long time which means stability. In addition, everyone knows everyone there by the way they greet and socialize with one another. Although it’s catered to the African culture there’s a diverse group of customers that frequent the place.

I had to redo my review three times I’m not even sure how to do a review on this one. I mean, I got cassava leaf yesterday. It was not greasy. It was outstanding the flavor. So About even more today. It was extremely greasy it don’t taste like it tasted yesterday and I’ve been eating cassava leaf for over two decades. So I definitely know cassava leaf. When I tasted it. So I had to use several paper towels to soak the grease well the oil. As I kept eating it it taste OK. But it still doesn’t taste like the cassava leaf I had yesterday. And definitely extremely greasy. I’m 85% maybe 90% sure that the cassava leaf was mixed with potato soup. Because I had a sample of potato soup yesterday it had a slight spice to it. Cassava leaf does not. And this soup have a slight spice to it and like I said it don’t taste like 100% cassava leaf. I think maybe it’s time for me to just take a break and just stick with my American food …. And if score matters to anyone, I saw the score today while I paid attention today cause I only been there twice and the score is 84 health score.

The food was quite tasty and the portions large. My first time having Gambianian food. I would have liked a medium or small serving option. We could not finish and as we were in a hotel did not have the capacity to store the leftovers and had to discard. (Dinner for 4 $80 we threw away at least $25 to $30.)

The space, dining and serving area needs to be renovated to make more inviting.
