We hosted a 20-person outdoor wedding reception at our home, and Mezza Thyme catered the event. The food was outstanding.
Throughout the meal, I kept hearing the same comment from different tables: “This is really, really good food.” And it was. The Mediterranean dishes were vibrant and fresh — not generic or middle-of-the-road, but thoughtfully prepared with balanced flavors and ultra-fresh ingredients. Even our most restrained eaters went back for seconds.
Delivery was on time as scheduled. The general manager personally supervised the transfer of the food from transport containers into our serving dishes and offered helpful suggestions on serving layout to improve flow. Presentation and execution were handled professionally, which matters when hosting an event at home.
Prior to placing the final order, I studied the menu and placed a preliminary order online to establish a starting point. I reviewed it with my daughter and wife and received their approvals before finalizing. I did have a few questions about overlap among side dishes, spoke with the general manager about it, and finalized the order 30 days before the event with no subsequent changes. That clarity made the rest of the planning straightforward.
Their menu reflects flavors and traditions rooted in the Levant region. Mediterranean cuisine lends itself well to buffet service within a defined service window.
We would be happy to use Mezza Thyme again for any larger-scale gathering — or for a great meal at home or in their restaurant on Cota Street downtown. I highly recommend them.

Ordered chicken Shawarma sandwich ($14), lamb/beef Shawarma sandwich ($15), falafel sandwich ($13), and grilled chicken ($17).
The service was super good, and the guys were very welcoming.
Overall, the Shawarma sandwiches tasted good, but they were dry and lacked sauce from inside (garlic sauce for chicken, tahini for beef). However, I asked them for more sauce and they were very helpful. Proportion size was good. Meat was thinly sliced. The meat was tender and juicy and cooked thoroughly. The meat had proper spices like the ones you get overseas.
The falafel sandwich was good, had proper amount of sauce. The falafel balls were crunchy and freshly cooked. However, its spices was a bit over on the coriander. Salad combo inside was perfect.

I had the most incredible dish from here and I am so excited to go back.
I’m from New York and we have excellent Mediterranean food over there. I had been craving garlic sauce and looked up Mediterranean/Lebanese food near me and this restaurant popped up. I am so grateful that it did.
I ordered takeout. I got the grilled chicken which comes with garlic sauce, hummus, raw onions and tomatoes, and fresh cilantro.
While I did not like the hummus due to my personal taste, I thoroughly enjoyed everything else. I have told everyone around me about this restaurant because my food was so incredibly made.
I got the side of pickled cucumbers which were genuinely one of the best things I’ve ever eaten in my life. I have been craving them every hour since.
I also got a side of pita which was also delicious.
The chicken was INCREDIBLE. Alongside the garlic sauce, this combo really did the job for me. It made me less homesick.
Also, the employees were incredibly kind and cheerful.

Above and beyond services! Eric – restaurant manager/bartender and an all-rounder, he was amazing! He recommended us some great dishes (that turned out to be delicious), he was kind and very friendly.

My husband and I recently visited twice in one day on our trip to Santa Barbara– it’s that good! There are plenty of places to eat in the downtown area, but Mezza Thyme is by far the best option for great food, thoughtful service, and lovely atmosphere. The upstairs balcony is perfect for a date night to watch the sunset. I’m vegan and they have lots of great options– I loved the eggplant plate and the falafel! The pita was unreal. They also made some great mocktails as well for those who are non-alcoholic (I requested a mocktail mojito and it was amazing.) Highly recommend!

Amazing mixed Shawerma sandwiches here. Best I had in Santa Barbara. Amazing atmosphere inside with great seating. Will defectively be back and highly recommend this place for their mixed Shawerma sandwiches. Freshly made pita bread here is made on the spot.
