Visited this place for the first time today. Same owner and restaurant that used to be inside the mall. So glad they’ve moved into their own location.

I was driving and saw Mexican buffet $9.99 and slammed on the breaks and parked immediately. I was excited. I just moved back to the area and this was my first time seeing this place. It was packed so that was a good sign! I was brought a menu and looked it over. Nice choices and they server breakfast tacos all day… Also nice! But I was there for the buffet….. Although,
the buffet wasn’t good unless you like dry meats and flautas so hard they could chip teeth. Soups were bland as well as the salsa verde and the frijoles were runny and bland. Rice was just ok. The only thing that was good on the buffet when I went was the asado de puerco. The dessert bar looked nice and fresh but I rarely eat sweets so I don’t know how anything tasted.
As I was eating I realized no one else except 1 other person was eating from the buffet so I should have checked the buffet before I chose it for lunch.
I also saw a sign that said taco buffet but I didn’t see it anywhere. Maybe they alternate the 2 buffets ♂️.
The positive of it is that I was looking at people’s plates as they brought them to the table as well as when I made my trips to the buffet…. And everything looked great!
I will not eat the buffet again, but I will definitely go back to try something off the menu (based off what I saw) and I will try the taco buffet whenever I find out when it’s available.

It’s in a mall that seemed pretty dead, but the tacos are absolute fire If I say it once, I will say it 1000 times, the best tacos in the world are in the Texas Rio Grande Valley.
Crispy mini corn tortillas, flavor packed meat, raw onions, grilled onions, cilantro, queso fresco, slice of avocado, squeeze of lime, top it off with exquisite creamy Jalapeño garlic verde sauce or chili de arbol Rojo. 4 of those, a soda, frijoles charros, and a freaking loaded baked potato (papa asado) for $10!

I gotta keep on saying it. They don’t disappoint and it’s good food, good price in a spot that keeps it hidden in the mall but damn I love those lonches…like a an order of 3 baby tortas that will defs fill the belly with happiness. The picture is of my last lonche…thought I’d add a photo cause I always eat em before I can snap a pic ..they’re that great. They deserve tips and gratitude for this food …seriously

This is our favorite Taco El Mante location! The tacos are AMAZING and the prices can’t be beat. The food is amazing inside and to go. Cynthia is so kind and an amazing host. Love love love this place!

The food was authentic and above average. I will definitely go back again. Service was great. El Monte is located in the mall food court but we ordered and the crew brought out our food and checked on us while we ate. Too notch attention. The atmosphere is the only ping and thats because its in the food court of a a slow and declining mall. The atmosphere was stale and a bit sad.

Family is from Mante so we were curious on our way back to Houston. Good tacos. Great spicy sauces and the burger was good too. Making Mante proud!
