Nice unassuming side of the highway restaurant. Dine in, carry out/call in-clean, polite and attentive staff. There are additional items in the back of the restaurant for purchase (pickled vegs, salsa, honey, jams/preserves) reasonably priced.
The fried basket was… ok. Fresh and unique taste but not my personal preference. Standard husbpuppies, (no added corn or peppers), shrimps were HUGE; fantastic quantity and quality for the price. Also had a brisket grilled cheese-very delicious, came with two slices of cheese and a container of BBQ sauce. (Some pepper jack cheese option would be great but understand that may not be available)
All in all, great place-I’d heard great things about it. Can attest to it being home made home style fresh cooking. I would personally probably not visit again but it’s certainly worth the experience and may end up being someone’s favorite off the wall spot as it’s very well known locally.

Everything was great on our 2meat choice plate. The brisket, the pork chop, the pinto beans, and potato salad were all delicious. Topped it off with the pecan pie bar for dessert. Thankful for this little bbq spot on this empty road, would definitely recommend making this a stop if you live in the area or passing through.
Service was great, lady was polite and attentive. Went back to tip her.

I have wanted to stop and try this restaurant and this week while headed to Houston I finally stopped and purchased a chopped beef sandwich to go. I really enjoyed the sandwich. The meat was tender and had great flavor. Now I want to dine in and try more they have to offer.

We drive thru here every Sunday and I wish they were open

Don’t let the outside deter you. Excellent bbq (we had sliced brisket and pork chop), good sides (cole slaw and pintos) clean, Texas decor. Friendly service. It was $16.00 for the plate that we split and it was enough for both of us.

True Texas smoked fall off the bone ribs and moist delicious brisket. Sweet southern service in a local no frills atmosphere. I highly recommend you give them a try.

Prior to the pandemic, really enjoyed their Friday night Fried Fish and Shrimp buffet. The picture shows the take out version since buffet was discontinued.
Last 3 orders have been trying, repeating the same order to the same employee over and over again. It’s near impossible to place an order by phone or in person and get exactly what you ordered. Last visit, ordered double pinto beans and got double gumbo. Unfortunately, was already home when discovered.
Try their BBQ sliced beef (sandwich or plate) or ribs. They are delicious!

I ordered a patty melt over the phone, and asked how much to make it a double. I was told it was a $4 upcharge on a $6 burger, so I declined. When I came to pick up the burger I asked the lady at the register “why was it so expensive for an extra patty”. She told me to ask the owner, I told her it wasn’t that big of a deal. Then after I paid and was leaving, the owner stopped me before I exited and asked me with a disrespectful and rude tone “how much would you charge”, over and over again. I kept reassuring her that I was fine and it wasnt as big of a deal as she was making it. But she kept on, saying “I have to pay the cooks and buy the meat”, and again with the “how much would you charge” over and over with a hateful attitude. So I told her to have a good day and I left before she could continue and make a larger scene in her establishment. All that because I asked a small question to the cashier?

This was the first time I have purchased anything from this little picnic style restaurant … I just loved it .. Them two girls , sorry I don’t know their names , backup … Im sure one of them is Lindsay…. Goes without saying ,are two of the hardest working girls and keep that cool hut going… The food was great, and my fave was seeing the older Gen just pile up in there for lunch and great conversation … That’s how it should be everywhere… I live in Porter, near Conroe and it used to be that way till tablets and video games came along and corrupted our town … Don’t let the technology damage your great lil town … Keep it old skool , that’s keeping it real … See y’all soon ….
