Visited a week or so ago found a home cooked breakfast, very good hot oatmeal drink large $5 in a cup. And tried their “3 golpes” without the meat. I had to sit down price was around $8 for the plate included mashed green young banana, a bit burnt fried cheese, fried hard eggs, with nicely pickled red onions. Overall good flavor. Ask for their home made green sauce which is mild and adds the touch to the meal. Red is very spicy.
Need improvement: table needed some cleaning and restroom missing hand soap & paper. Staff was pleasant but not much English. Very loud music playing in background.

The cow foot soup is super good…bought a medium in the plastic container and decided to sit right there in the restaurant and drink it and was charged $1 extra. That bothered me but the soup made up for it.

Great food, good people. Unlike a previous reviewer stated, they did not close because the food was unsafe, the building is not safe due to a fire (not sure how that person didn’t notice). Hopefully they come back soon and the building doesn’t end up like most fire damaged places in Mount Vernon.

I made a catering order on 12/05 for my daughter’s birthday which is 12/07 . I came into the restaurant PAID for it in cash (I do have a receipt )I stopped by the restaurant and it got shut down apparently it’s not clean . They didn’t even call me to let me know they were not able to complete my order and give me my money back . This is how you run a business ? .. now I have to find a spot laat minute .

Absolutely delicious!!! I’ve been eating at this restaurant since I was pregnant with my now 1 1/2 year old son. The food is really really good and the customer service I receive every time I go here is also excellent. Prefect combo, great meal and excellent customer service!!!

To be honest the food in this place isn’t bad, that’s why i kept going back. But today was my last day (i just walked out) I’m NEVER going back, the service in this place is terrible. This is my 8th or 9th visit to this place and I’ve been over looked almost every time I went there for someone who’s come after me, or I’ve been kept waiting with no acknowledgement of my presents while they had a full on convo. Once or twice is passable but all the time is too much for me. I’m always buying dinner for 7 people, but I’ll take my money elsewhere.

This place it’s a sorry excuse for a restaurant, ordered a ham & cheese sandwich but they didn’t put no cheese, ordered a large espresso coffee with milk and sugar and a small one, received two small black coffees no milk, not even out of courtesy on the side!!!! they basically give you whatever they want regardless of specifications, will never order from here again , they’re truly the worse of the worsts!

EDITED: Great food. I order frequently from El Fogon. Love their combos 1, 5, 7, and 9. The “a la carte” menu is pretty good, too. Good service.
