Abbi and I stopped by here for lunch on a Thursday after a hike. We arrived around 12. There were 2 other tables with customers when we arrived. It took a bit to have our order taken and then to receive our food. About 1 hour. During that time, several other tables filled.
I ordered the lunch special of 1/2 a chicken salad sandwich, and a bowl of chili. I also got a piece of the Apple Toffee pie. Abbi had the BLT. The food was decent, the pie was very good. They were out of several things like coffee, hamburgers, and croissants for the chicken salad.
There was 1 waitress, who appeared to be the owner. She was extremely friendly and was doing her best, handling the growing number of lunch customers. Not only was she taking care of the floor, but also was serving take out customers and ringing people up. It was alot.
This is a certain type of dining experience. It is very homey, kind of no nonsense. I would like to go back when I am not rushed. This is just not a place where you can be in a hurry. The food is prepared fresh by a single cook. The restaurant was very clean, as was the bathroom.
It’s definitely worth a stop. Check their hours before driving over as they are limited.

First of all Stahl’s is one of the coziest little places to get a bite. The atmosphere was very calm. Customer service was exceptional. We arrived about 20 minutes before closing time, we did not know they closed at 2:00, we were met with a smiling face upon walking in. Our waitress said it was absolutely no problem and seemed eager to feed us! With all that being said, the absolute best part about Stahl’s, is their homemade pies and cobblers. It would not surprise me one bit if the lady that bakes the desserts picks the fruit from her own garden. I have never had a blackberry cobbler that was so good in my life. The strawberry rhubarb pie was my girlfriends favorite. It was a refreshing experience. If you have time, definitely stop by this small town cafe! They also have a small knick knack shop next door. Would highly recommend!

The food was delicious. We got large fries and a bacon tomato grilled cheese sandwich to split and it was fantastic.

Excellent food !!! I had the tenderloin sandwich with onion rings. Didn’t get a picture as I ate it too fast. Some of the best onion rings I’ve ever had. Tenderloin was of the nominal Indiana size (about 4-5 times bun size) with just the right amount of spice in the crunchy coating. Will be back again !!!

If I could add more stars for service, I would. The owner/staff are hard-working and talented, and the food always hits the spot. It is quality, fresh, and delicious. Always a treat. Speaking of treats, the various pies are also excellent.

The food is always excellent at Stahl’s. You just have to make sure you have plenty of time. There is usually one waitress, and she can only do so much.

Lovely, small sandwich cafe. Personable wait staff. Simple, tasty fare. Reasonable prices. Keep a sharp eye out as you approach if you’re using Google Maps to direct you. The app will say you’ve arrived nearly a block before you do arrive and the restaurant does not have great signage.

This quaint diner was a great place to stop for lunch in Brownstown. Great menu selection, sweet tea was on point! Just watch the hours: on 10:30-2 Mon-Fri. Will look forward to going back next time we are in Jackson County!

I can’t say enough good things about Stahl’s catering! Patty catered my parents’ anniversary party. The price was more than reasonable, and we had more food than we could have eaten. She also delivered it right to the house, along with utensils, napkins, and a warmer to keep the food hot. I recommend the ham loaf and baked beans.
