Sunday lunch we ordered Cheesesteak, Burger with light condiments, mayo, mustard, catsup and onion. It all was suppose to come with fries. 1. They ran out of fries. How does a ff place run out of fries when it is a main staple? Poor management. 2. My burger was saturated with condiments so heavy that the bun was soggy and it fell apart. 3. They brought tater tots rather than ask what we’d like to replace fries. They were greasy and the onion rings were worse.

This was my first time here, as I was visiting from Denver. I ordered the Big J B&B, it has bacon, chili, an onion ring, and a mustard on it. It was roughly $9 drink, no side. You can get it in a smaller size (which I almost did because this was a late lunch). After my burger came, I was glad I didn’t get the small one (I didn’t get a side).
I liked my burger, but was very confused by the menu. It doesn’t tell you what you get for the price listed. I thought I was paying $14 for just a burger.. but I’m guessing it was $14 for the burger and side burger. Mine was only $9.25. The price on the menu includes taxes, so you know the total up front… I do like that!
The bread was so fresh & and soft. The chili had a good consistency. The onion ring was on the small side aka the bacon was pretty small.. but it all tasted great! I attached a picture, but had already added extra mustard before I thought to take one. LOVE their ice!!!!!

First problem is I asked for lite jalapenos. Also we never got a refill until we asked for it. My sandwich was completely soggy I could not pick it up to eat it, which I barely ate any as it was disgusting and soaking wet. It was freezing cold there as well. Service was not great. Food was definitely not great for the price.

So, let’s me say…. The prices are nuts! The food is amazing! The people inside were more like family!
You can go to McDonalds, get a #1 Large… Their 2 min hamburger will cost you, a large meal, it’s cost MORE MONEY than a HWY 55 burger and fries!!!!
So from the time you order & drive to the 2nd window, your whole order is ready….
At HWY 55, you can watch them put your burger on the grill, it’ll take a few min (because the are real burgers…)
The HWY 55 chamber that I had (nothing fancy, I just had a hamburger with all the fixings on it) and I can tell you did not taste like a frozen hamburger that I could have gotten in 30 seconds
This hamburger tasted like I had grilled it out in my own house!
After all the shock had worn off of how great the food was as compared to how little the cost was, I was thinking to myself, you may not come here and get quality food that tastes like I did it myself, and it cost me less money than going and waiting at McDonald’s for their Frozen burgers?
If you are around this area, if you live in attalla, gadsden, boaz, if you’re anywhere around this area, you’ve got to make it a point to come to Highway 55 burgers and shakes, because they have got the most amazing food for the price it is just unbeatable. And just to think, you can get out cheaper than running over and getting frozen food from mcdonald’s, you can have an absolute great meal for cheaper
So after the shock wore off of how amazing it was as compared to the price, I had to find out who was running the joint!
The guy that was running it, his name was Chris and I believe he’s the G. M. And also his mom works there and she is one of the managers there as well. What was really neat is the second I walked in, I honestly felt like family.
I pulled in & parked & when I made it to the door, someone opened it for me and greeted me… And that was the manager… Got inside & honestly it was one of the best experiences I’ve had when you put into totality the fact that the price for the quality, and try to compare that to some of the other places around and you’ll quickly find, you’ve been missing out for a long time!
***The parking lots were clean. While I was there they were moving tables and cleaning the floors and sanitizing everything in the, the bathrooms were clean, this place is run like a tight ship!
To Mr Chris and it’s wonderful mom, you’ve got it going on is there a Highway 55! From the moment I parked and got to the door and was greeted and someone open the door for me, I know that there was something special. And I can tell you, by the time I left, it was one of the greatest experiences.
YALL GO TRY IT!

First and Last visit, Last Friday I stopped in and went through the drive through. I ordered a number 6 with onion rings and Pepsi
Paid and sat at the window for over 8-10 minutes they handed me my drink and asked me to pull forward they were gonna bring it out to me. I observed a lot of people just standing around doing nothing. So anyways I pulled up and waited another 6 minutes for my order. Finally I get it and i drive off. I pick the soft drink up I had ordered and it was literally 2 sips of Pepsi and then Ice! So trying to give them the benefit of doubt I’m driving and I tried the onion rings took a bite the grease from frying stayed in my mouth. All I could taste was grease and shrimp!! By the time I got to my destination I was hesitant on the burger, Tried it anyways and 1 bite later it was tossed as well. This is horrible and I’m not one to complain. I wish they would get better help or train what’s already employed there to actually take care of the costumers! Good luck to Boaz however I see this will not last and be another empty building on a major highway! My first visit is also my last visit! I was drive thru ticket #418

This place is a joke. We got there a few minutes after opening, and it took 20 minutes to get our drive thru order. They charged us for the large drinks we ordered, but gave us smalls because they were “out of large cups”. I asked the window worker if I was getting what I paid for, and he gave me a punch card to try and make up for it. The fries and tots were extremely soggy and tasted like they were cooked in the same oil as shrimp. The best part is the cheesesteak was made with GROUND BEEF instead of sliced steak as advertised. An absolute waste of time and money.

we ordered the cheesesteaks and they were great. there wasn’t any music or any sort of atmosphere going so it was quiet and awkward. with this being a 50s themed restaurant, they could go wild with music playing and decor but that was lacking. they had one waitress working and she was incredibly nice and attentive, but it took us 30 minutes to get our food and 20 to be rung up at the register.

Wish we would’ve read the reviews before stopping for a quick lunch today with my friend and our kids. It was at least 10 minutes before a waitress came to our table. That should’ve been our first sign. When she did come, it was a very odd experience. I’m not sure if she was on a substance or just having a bad day. There was no Dr. Pepper or ice cream. That should’ve been our second sign. The restaurant’s sign literally advertises ice cream. Probably 10 minutes after we placed our order (we’ve been in the restaurant 30 minutes now), a sweet teenage girl who was probably just starting her shift came back with a notepad and said, “I’m sorry but can you repeat your order.” That should’ve been our third sign. The older man cooking in the kitchen was coughing in his gloves and on the food. He was drinking his drink while working and seemed more interested in what was going on in the restaurant than cooking. When our food finally came (after witnessing several other patrons come in, wait and leave without ever being served), 2/3 kid’s chicken tender orders came out as hamburgers. Not a big deal as they cooked more chicken and brought the right thing, but our order was taken TWICE and still came out wrong! I have not had a restaurant experience like this in a long time, and it’s sad that this new restaurant will not be around much longer with this service. There was no point in asking for a manager because no one in the restaurant seemed to know what they were doing. We did get cards for free ice cream when we come back, but we will not be returning.

It took longer than we expected for our food (15-20 minutes for burgers) and when we finally got it, both the tots and the fries were cold and the fries were also soggy and undercooked. My burger didn’t come as ordered. Everything looks and tastes like it was cooked in old oil. Then, we waited at least 10 minutes after we ate to get our check.
Milkshake was good.

The food is made to order every time. The people working there are so so friendly and welcoming, 20/10 customer service. They go above and beyond for you every time!! If you don’t mind waiting just a little bit for some fresh food made right when you order it(unlike a lot of places around here) then you’ll love it here. Their custard is also amazing.
