A friend told me about this restaurant. Stopped in for lunch Saturday and got the taco plate special. The trompo was really good and 10 tacos for 20 bucks was a great deal. All of their salsa is really good too. I really want to get back and try more of the menu.

We had the street tacos: bistec and shrimp. Our 1 1/2 yr old got simple fries. We were not at all impressed. Bistec was overcooked that it tasted like beef jerky, the shrimp had no flavor and they were so tiny. The tortillas were falling apart while grabbing them to take a first bite. The fries were burnt and hard. There A/C was not working I assume, it was warm inside, big fan was on. We had high expectations and was let down. Not authentic Mexican food.

La Avenida was amazing when they first opened. My mom & I were frequent visitors. After our last couple of visits back in the spring, we haven’t been back. My husband & I took our kids tonight to give it another trip since it had been a while, and sadly, I was still disappointed. I understand they were kind of busy and the waitress was probably overwhelmed, making the service not as great, not a big deal, but the food is nothing like it was. It used to be amazing! This will be our last visit.

This family owned restaurant is DEFINITELY a great place to patronize. The staff makes you feel so welcomed. The coffee was served in the cutest cup ever. Made me feel like I was visiting another country. The salsa was super delicious and very full of popping ingredients. I ordered Migas, my honey and RJ got the pancakes. Super reasonable pricing and we will be coming back to visit.

I have eaten in 90% of the Mexican restaurants in Houston and tons of restaurants in Mexico but so happy we discovered this gem while in Kilgore, Texas. It does not look like it’s open at first glance and is definitely not known for the decor. But then I tasted the homemade chips and warm salsa I was served and I was instantly a fan. We ordered Carne Asada and the Alambre. Oh, so good!!

Such a nice place to go to, the vibe is great, the service is really friendly, and cooks are excellent, the food is awesome and is something different that we haven’t had in kilgore but we needed. So glad they don’t serve tex mex because thats all we had in Kilgore, so this is an excellent spot for Authentic Mexican food. They also have Hot coffee, Champurrado, and fresh pastries which is a great snack for after having a meal.

The place was to crowded with tables not comtable to eat the waitress are not friendly to busy on there phones also. The food wasn’t as good and it over priced, I will prefer to go to a fancy restaurant to pay that much almost 100$ I thought the place will be tasty and good service as I see good review. But it not never coming back with my family again it not kids friendly you will see guys coming in and out drunk at the bar
