We drove into New Castle on Sunday for chili dogs at Bill’s but they were closed. We decided to go directly to dessert: two scoops of luscious gelato, two pieces of baklava, a large Americano and a breath of fresh air in and around Papa Gelateria. It was a perfect spring day.
I do have one suggestion: is there any way you could add crepes to the menu?

I love the Italian sodas and my favorite gelato flavors so far are vanilla and mango. This is my go-to hide-away spot on Sunday afternoons. It’s relaxing and quiet, great for daydreaming or reading a book while enjoying a refreshing Italian soda or a creamy gelato on the porch. I walk here, but there is plenty of parking space available for those who drive. The service is excellent by the way; be sure to tip your server; Colin does a great job. He always makes me feel welcome and makes the best Italian sodas ever!! He is definitely an 11 on a scale of 1-10

Amazing Gelato! This is such a gem. Great atmosphere, decor, and beautiful patio shaded by trees and with a great view.
The pistachio is very authentic, ans one of the best I’ve had-nice chunks of chewy pistachio.

This place is super cute and has amazing Gelato! Friendly shop staff and tucked away from the main street. The outdoor deck is lovely. I want to go every day. Also had a latte which was tasty. Mango, blood orange, chocolate, pistachio and black cherry I’ve tried so far. All were delicious!

Nestled in and around a grove of tall oak trees sits this little Gelato haven. After ordering the creamiest dessert I’ve probably ever had, we sat on their deck overlooking New Castle in the shade of these oak giants. I felt at peace just being there.

We love this little treat-stop here in New Castle. They have about 8 to 10 flavors each week, some which change. I always sample before I pick and the staff is friendly. Sometimes the place is packed with customers, and other times we’re the only ones. If you like coffee, try their Afrigatto…espresso over a couple scoops of gelato. So good!

As one of the very few Italians left in New Castle; The last of a dying breed of people, if you will, I would like to tell you all that this gelato tastes of my people, of our culture, of our rich, silky history. Pictured is the Tiramisu gelato in regular size. The gelato is excellent. The location is well appointed and very casual and relaxing. The staff and owner are very friendly. Support a local business and have a delicious treat!

Maybe I went at an off time. Thursday at 3 pm. No one in the business, but the person taking the order. I ordered a panini, the veggie option. They were out of the greens.
The inside along with the outside was not tidy. I did try the gelato, which was delicious. But with the atmosphere and lack of attention from young man behind the counter I won’t be going back anytime soon. At least the had a poster explaining the process.

Papa was quiet at @3:30 Thursday. Flavors were a bit low. The strawberry was great! Like it here because it’s really a great location that is pretty country. But it overlooks downtown New Castle. A very nice spot to have a couple scoops of gelato.
