Maxwells Pub Grill: Exceptional Service and Delicious Food in …

You’d be surprised to know I was expecting this to be just another rundown bar. First as soon as the door is open, I was greeted with a warm welcome by the staff working there. My date and I went for our chairs, and saw that this place had a award-winning bloody Mary plaque on the wall. We had to get that, I had to try it. I was blown away. We ordered stuffed potatoes, and I finally got a chance to find out what poutini was.
That’s when I realized that this is a dish made in Canada that might as well have come from the Gods. The food was so delightful that it made her and I look into each other’s eyes and realize that maybe there’s something special here.
The bloody Mary’s had to have some kind of potion or something in them because she didn’t stop smiling for the rest of the day. Literally I felt like I was winning. The food was so good we thought about even going back for lunch but then we were like we can’t live inside this bar, we have to get back to reality at some point. Maxwell’s pub has been the absolute gem hiding in plain sight and I highly recommend you go check out their food and their staff. Amazing atmosphere, amazing people, will definitely go again.
Also, trust me you won’t find prices better than this.
Only suggestion I would make is maybe switch to grilled chunks instead of pulled chicken. The pulled chicken is far too wet and the tortilla never stood a chance 🙂
Last Saturday, we arrived at 11:25pm(they closed at 1am) and we were told a fair amount of foods on the menu could not be made an hour and a half before close. I can reason with the last hour, having empathy for my fellas in the food/beverage service, but the extra half hour before is a stretch. it’s not explicitly stated anywhere when the kitchen closes. The menu does says all day. I can understand instances where it’s necessary, yet this seems to be a trend to bar off major parts the menu or close pretty early. Most bar&grills close the kitchen an hour before to accommodate cleaning crews. Maybe it’s time for a change/better clarity on best ordering times for specific product.
On 08/20/25, I walked into Maxwells at approx. 11:41pm(they close at midnight, so eighteen minutes before close) for a quick drink for easier clean up for staff but I was refused service. We were told they were completely closed,. No one was rude and we got the memo. I’ve worked plenty of dine-in gigs so I get it yet as a consumer, I’m pretty discouraged not to come in after 11pm because they seem to “close” up earlier than times say.
Aside from the rocky work/business ethic, I actually enjoy Maxwells!! I’d be wary coming in the last hour though or/and hour and a half before if you’re craving specific foods. When I’ve come in during busier hours, Maxwells has rocked my socks off!! I hope the time confusion can be resolved!
I will be recommending this place to friends and family.
