We arrived at Kopan Izakaya on a Sunday afternoon around 3pm. The decor was really nostalgic and made you feel like you’re in another world. We ordered the Ginza sushi with all the chefs favorites, garlic lovers albacore carpaccio, Tokyo roll, mango lovers roll, Sapporo roll, cilantro salmon, Torikawa gyoza, and the kuro mayu ramen. You have all the best Japanese food in one place. The variety was plentiful and the food was delicious. There is garage parking available and they will validate once you’re all done. Currently they do have drink specials and they have roll specials too. Make sure you inquire about that just in case things change by the time you visit. One of the best sushi spots in K town for sure!

A tasty Japanese restaurant with Izakaya dishes, sushi, and more. They have cocktails and I got the one with yuzu. The sashimi platter comes with thick cuts of sashimi. The uni in the toro uni donburi was fresh. The pork ribs was tasty and crispy. The sukiyaki was flavorful. It can be a little pricey, but I like how they have a variety of food.

I like how they validate parking for three hours.

Thought I had rated this place before, but didn’t see my review. Came from Vegas for a show at the Wiltern. Food was so good we knew we had to visit again when we came in for another Wiltern show. Had to give a shout out to this restaurant for such an amazing experience! They personalized our choices and brought out some amazing salmon, mixed nigri, and a fabulous green tea cheesecake. Thank you once again for showing why you should have 5* for EVERY review.

This place was excellent! The food was delicious and well priced in addition to being presented beautifully. The interior has a very classic elevated Izakaya feel to it and the ambience was wonderful. The staff was attentive without being overbearing which I really like when dining alone. It’s open late and located centrally in Koreatown.

Amazing Customer Service! I felt so welcomed and greeted right away. I ordered the bento box, which had a little bit of everything — absolutely delicious! The house sake was incredible too. I’ll definitely be coming back to try more of their dishes!

Checked out the newly opened Kopan Izakaya on the 2nd floor of the Madang Hmart plaza over the long weekend—3 hours of free parking validation in Ktown was already a win!

The sashimi and sushi were super fresh and beautifully plated, and the uni in mini donburi was sweet and creamy—great quality for the price!
The sukiyaki came with a generous portion of beef—perfect for sharing among four people.
Couldn’t resist the katsu curry that everyone seemed to be ordering—crispy, flavorful, and super comforting.

We also tried the tuna crispy rice, king mushroom, grilled sausage, and octopus, which were a bit salty on their own but paired well with salad or rice.

The interior is cozy, tastefully decorated, and has great privacy. Staff were incredibly polite and attentive.

They’re currently running a 50% off drink BOGO promo—go before the lines start forming!

Kopan Izakaya in Ktown is such a solid spot for good Japanese food without breaking the bank. I’ve been here a bunch of times and it’s always consistent. The vibe is super cozy—feels like a little izakaya in Japan. This time I tried the bento box with teriyaki chicken and ribeye steak—both were super tasty and the portion was huge. The unagi don was fire! Perfectly grilled eel with avocado and ikura on top, so satisfying. We also got the 12-piece Ginza sushi set—every piece was fresh, no fishy taste at all, and the rice was just right. The cutlet ramen hit the spot too—rich broth, crispy pork cutlet, and all the toppings. Oh, and the takoyaki? Crispy outside, soft inside, classic and delicious. Definitely one of my go-to spots in Ktown!

Didn’t expect to find such beautiful Japanese-Korean fusion in K-town, LA!

Every time I come to K-town, I usually go for Korean food, but this time I was blown away by Kopan Izakaya! Who knew such beautifully presented dishes were hiding upstairs in this plaza?

Highly recommend Yuzu Miso Black Snapper Crudo
If you like yuzu flavors, you have to try their refreshing Yuzu Miso Black Snapper! The texture is incredibly tender and smooth, and the pistachio topping adds a unique twist! The sweet citrusy yuzu pairs perfectly with the sashimi!

Must-try Hotate Crudo
Hokkaido scallops served with fresh toro and caviar, soaked in Gamtae (seaweed) and topped with their house special sauce—rich but not heavy at all! The scallops are fresh and plump—so satisfying!

Fitness-friendly Stuffed Avocado
Perfect for those on a fitness journey needing healthy fats. The avocado is packed with spicy grilled tuna and onions —super yummy mixed together! Great to spread on toast , or just dip it in a little soy sauce for extra flavor!

Perfect bar snack Chili Lime Tako
Crispy yet tender octopus legs served with a tartar sauce that’s citrusy with a hint of yuzu—absolutely delicious as a snack with drinks!

Delightful treat King Crab Bites
Roasted king crab leg meat with a crispy crust—almost like a little dessert! One bite fills your taste buds with sweet, juicy crab meat—pure happiness!!

Don’t forget to ask the restaurant for parking validation ️

Kopan Izakaya has become one of my absolute favorite spots in Koreatown. I’ve been back multiple times and it’s consistently excellent—honestly, it’s rare to find a place where you can blind order and never hit a bad dish.

My top 3 recommendations:

Toro (fatty tuna): melts in your mouth, rich and buttery, super fresh.

Teppan King Oyster Mushrooms: sizzling hot, perfectly seasoned, and surprisingly craveable.

Sashimi Platter: beautifully plated, generous portions, and top-tier freshness.

The vibe is cozy but energetic—great for both casual dinners and small group outings. Service is friendly and attentive, and they validate parking for 3 hours, which is a huge plus in K-Town.

If you’re a fan of Japanese izakaya-style dining and love discovering lowkey gems, Kopan is 100% worth checking out. Can’t wait for my next visit!
