First time ordering from Papa Rami’s and it was really good. The pizza had a lot of flavor including the crust and I liked the crust was not thick and doughy.

I stopped at Papa Rami’s Pizzeria in San Antonio, TX on July 9th, 2025 while visiting the area. I was originally planning on getting pizza from a chain, but I came across this place and saw they were running a $6.99 one topping carryout deal, so I decided to give it a try instead.

I ordered an onion pizza and a garlic sauce. The pizza was fine and not bad by any means, but honestly, I would have preferred a pizza from Domino’s. It didn’t really stand out to me, and it wasn’t something I’d go out of my way to get again.

The bigger issue was that I noticed I was overcharged after looking over the receipt. It was only about $0.50, so I didn’t make a fuss at the time, especially since it seemed like a small business. However, I do wish I had said something out of principle. From what I remember, the way the price of the pizza was shown on the receipt made it a bit hidden, with the regular price listed and then a discount applied. Hence you had to do a little math to realize the final total was higher than it should have been. For reference this extra $0.50 was not sales tax, I accounted for that.

Overall, the experience was okay, but I’d definitely recommend checking your receipt carefully after ordering here.

I was just a kid when I heard the oxymoron, “fresh cheese” down Mission Street in San Francisco. How could something purposely aged be “fresh?” I had to get a little older myself before I could appreciate that cheese without all the stuff that makes it last on the shelf TASTES better. Dough made fresh with a few simple ingredients TASTES better. We just had the pleasure of dining at Rami’s. I say dining not because the place is fancy. It’s not. It’s clean and friendly. A/100. But the food. Oh ho ho. We went to eat but we stayed to dine. Mayra had a generous plate of piping hot ravioli and melted fresh mozzarella swimming in well seasoned marinara. I took the tiniest tastiest bite because I’m a vegan (now that I too am aged but fresh). Staying vegan in an Italian restaurant is never easy. I ordered a vegetarian calzone minus the cheese and plus mushrooms. I’m allergic to green peppers so I skipped them too. Rami himself leaned out of the kitchen and called out, “you want green and black olives in that veggie calzone?” The perfect question. When he brought it to our booth, he also brought a side of the herb butter they usually paint the calzone with because he figured no cheese probably meant non-dairy. Wow. The only thing more amazing than the friendly service and attention to detail was the food itself. The searing heat of that pizza oven turned what could have been a soggy bag of dough into a crusty savory pocket of pizza crust with bubbling hot veg peeking through the toasty slits. I have to apologize for these pics because we were almost done with the meal before I realized we NEEDED to share photos. Y’all know we like to eat. It’s nice to know there is a great family-friendly place right in our neighborhood where we can also dine. (And the cheese is fresh.) Kudos, Rami and crew. We will be back! (Update! I can’t back to send you a pic!)

My whole family is from Italy. My husband and I just found the most delicious Italian food restaurant ever! They have some other foods as well but we ordered a pizza and it was so good we started eating in our car. They are all so kind and so nice. Please please if you want a true Italian pizza pie or want to see all their choices check them out soon in Leon Valley TX. Greatest pizza I’ve had since my grandmother made it herself

I saw all the good reviews here and had to come check it out. I really enjoyed the pizza i ordered. The crust was on the thinner side in a good way. Like a New York style crust. And the edges were light & crunchy. It’s not doughy cardboard like a lot of places. The place is clean lookin. No complaints. Good sauce, good distribution of quality toppings. Would come again. They have lots of offerings. Will try the gyros and sub sandwiches at some point.

Finally a true family owned, fresh hand made using high quality ingredients! Never felt so good as much as eating at this place! Our first visit and for sure he has us customers for life! From the freshly backed dough to the %100 natural mozzarella cheese used in many dishes that truly melts in your mouth, not like the rubbery one with artificial ingredients that other restaurants use, to the spaghetti and meatballs which my kids loved, to the cheese ravioli which was HUGE that 2 people shared, to the margherita pizza which was a piece of art! We also had the veggies and rami’s special pizzas which were gone and devoured from the deliciousness! all for very reasonable budget friendly prices considering the quality, quantity and the love and passion you taste in the food. YOU MUST TRY IT!

It’s a small pizzeria, so judging atmosphere is not really fair, because it’s not fancy. It’s simple and spotless with a few booths and tables. The food is good and the service is great. I had pizza and the Greek salad and really enjoyed both. I also had a couple Turkish sodas and they were really good. I loved the orange one the best. The cheesecake was creamy and well priced. Definitely will eat here again. It’s family owned and I love supporting these types of establishments.
