So hear me out—when you are driving through the backroads of Alabama and you pull up to Hercules Cafe, it is one of those spots that makes you pause for a second. It has that “hidden roadside place you only find by accident” kind of look. Even my mom, who leans a little boojie and normally sticks to chain restaurants, gave me that concerned side-eye when we pulled in.
I always tell her those are the exact places that end up surprising you with the best food, and this time proved it. She ordered an omelet and actually said it was the best omelet she has ever had. For her to give that kind of compliment says a lot—she does not hand out positive reviews easily, especially at her age, so that alone was worth the trip.
My kids got milkshakes, and they were quiet at the table for a few minutes, which is pretty much the highest recommendation kids can give. I ordered the chili dogs, and they hit the spot—simple, perfectly done, and exactly what I was hoping for. The service was top notch, friendly without being fake, and everything came out fast and hot. Also worth mentioning—the bathrooms were clean, which matters more than people like to admit.
All in all, this place is one of those unexpected gems. Even if the outside makes you think twice, go in anyway. You will be glad you did. I highly recommend giving Hercules Cafe a shot.

This is a Cool Old Diner being resurrected by the New Owners. They are no longer affiliated with any of the previous owners. It’s just getting started, but We had a Great Meal here. Cheeseburgers and fries. Like real, flame broiled burgers, Real French fries made fresh to order. We will definitely return. The Owners are Great people to. Good conversation. They hope to bring more Farm to Table items to their menu soon. Breakfast is served all day to. Stop in if you in Columbia!

This restaurant Is definitely a place to try! Great food, service, and experience. My daughter and I went and I had the chicken sandwich deluxe, my daughter had the chicken fingers with fries. It tasted so good! The lady that works there was so nice and inviting. If you haven’t already, put this restaurant on your radar!! Or, you will be missing out!!!!
