The vibe is just right and on point all the way from having Dominos on the table to play with while waiting for food all the way down to the music and decor. Highly recommend. Easy location also in North Naples, right across from the Germain Toyota dealership.
Definitely try some fried cheese and Guava sauce for your appetizers.
I ordered the CJ’s Picadera sampler with alcapurrias, rellenos de papa, sorullos, jibaritos, and chicharrón de cerdo, and added the mofongo bites. The best item was the rellenos de papa. They had great flavor, I will give them that, but if that is the normal size for $7, it is not worth it. The alcapurrias were about the size of a cigar, and I was not impressed. The jibaritos had a plain ground beef patty lacking in flavor instead of seasoned steak, and the pork chunks lacked seasoning.
I also ordered a $7 side of rice. The portion was insulting for its price and it had no flavor, tasting like tomato sauce. Pasteles are preorder only at $60 per dozen, or $7 each if you want a single one. Charging $60 for a dozen is outrageous and insulting.
I want local Hispanic owned businesses to succeed. As a foodie and someone with knowledge of the restaurant and catering industry, I understand the challenges of running a business, but pricing and execution still have to make sense for the community. If they want locals to support them, they may want to reevaluate their approach. Otherwise, they would be best off sticking to seasonal or tourist based sales.
I should’ve checked our bag. Missing half of our order. No Bacailitos. Only 3 of the 4 for $20 Pastelillos. Only 1 vs appetizer version of the Alcapurria.
The Alcapurria was more air than filling. Also, very stale in taste.
The Pastelillos .. 2 of them ordered were beef and cheese. Missing the cheese. The filling tasted more like Marinara vs the home made sofrito as advertised.
The 1 Pastelillo of pernil was okay.
The chicharron appetizer didn’t come with any sauce or anything to compliment it.
An hour spent there and very disappointing.
They’re very nice though.
