Indian paradise out of nowhere, great parontas. We tried the mix, gobi and Allu paronta. Great taste, served with yogurt and white butter. Made fresh in front of you.
We were their early so it was pretty fast service, but can see it taking longer time given she is making paronta right when you order.
Overall pleasantly surprised, highly recommend.

A surprise gas station stop. This is not a restaurant but a small counter inside a typical gas station store. The best, freshly made Indian flatbread. They made it right in front of us. Very friendly ladies.
We ate in our car along with cold mango lassi. Enjoyed it very much. Reasonable prices.
Three stars for atmosphere as this is just a good counter inside the store. But don’t let that hold you back from making a stop here( exit 244 on I-5).

Best gas station food ever. Just off the five freeway, this tiny corner counter offering Punjabi home cooking is a real treat. (Sadly no seating). I was very excited to see Aloo Methi (or as the sign said, Allu Methi) which id been trying to make at home because it is very rare to find this basic staple in restaurants. Unfortunately they were out, and the Gobi paratha they could not make for some reason. I got egg burji, Daal Makni, and goat curry, and the Ant got two samosas and an order of what the cook was making on the stove , which was a delicious pea and paneer curry. The goat curry smelled like, well like goat (by which I mean gamy not stinky) when it was spooned out but despite the strong smell the flavor was very delicately spiced and super tasty. The samosas were also very nice with a trace of cinnamon that tarted up something what is usually flavored pretty consistently across the supply chain. The Daal and egg dishes were outstanding, the Daal almost had a floral taste and the eggs were fluffy and spicy. Naan was cooked up on the thin iron pan which I covered. No kulfi but The Ant got Burfi (cashew) and was quite pleased. I got my chai unspiced and i appreciated the nuanced flavor . I thought it was interesting that the chef wrote everything in a notebook… highly recommend

Amazing freshly cooked food. Feels like homemade Punjabi food. Our favorite place to stop when we are traveling between LA and SF and craving Indian/Pakistani food or just need some chai and samosa.

Service is nice- it’s a nice man who doesn’t even eat meat that cooked it for us. Food is bland- we got chicken over rice. It was supposed to be closed at 9pm but she closed it at 8:30 and said there’s only chicken and rice left and we were charged $15.99.
Atmosphere- it’s in a gas station so nowhere to sit, just grab and go.
Too expensive for the quality.

Additionally, there’s a food truck 2 min away that’s open until 1am that has better food for a valid price. We should’ve searched around instead of compromising. Ended up going to the food truck after this.

Was driving up from SoCal to the Bay Area.
I missed my regular rest/break exit and took the next one.
To my pleasant surprise, found this Indian (Punjabi) gas station store.
They have a section inside the store where the sell freshly cooked food.
The specials for the day included “Rajmah Chawal” (Kidney bean curry and Rice). So we had to order that 🙂
Also got some freshly fried samosas.
The Rajmah Chawal was very delicious and had a nice flavor of “ghee” (clarified butter).
The samosas were nice and crunchy on the outside and the stuffing was tasty. I gobbled one without even dipping it in the chutney.
This store looked like a family run business and all the people were very friendly.
Now I have a new spot to stop for gas and food between SoCal and the Bay!

P.S: They saw my 3 year old with me and gave her a complimentary sweet (gulab jamun) 🙂

Disappointing experience!
I would highly recommend skipping this shady establishment and going few miles north or south to another Indian restaurant if you are craving Indian food. It seems to be a family owned business located in the corner of a gas station store. First off, they do not have any prices on the menu, so you don’t know what you are paying until they ring you up.

I ordered a 2 side combo and the total before tip came up to be $17.92.
They also charge you a 3.5% fee for using a card without mentioning that there is a fee for using card. For a homestyle kitchen in bakersfield, with to go only and no seating it seems steeply priced compared to similar places in LA/bay area.

Chicken curry – it was more like watered chicken with chopped onions and tomatoes. (can be seen in the pic)
Spinach – lacked flavour, tasteless

The combo came with a huge portion of rice and very little curry, so I ended up throwing most of the rice away. Never going back here again!
