Chef JUN had a very relaxed and almost lounge like atmosphere that I really dig. The sushi rolls are fantastic. I got the San Diego roll and the Hawaiian roll and couldn’t be happier. The service was great and quick. Definitely a place to come back to.

Chef Jun is THE finest Japanese restaurant in San Diego!! I know Bay Ho branch is exceptional cause I went there from they opened the place, but their new branch at Point Loma is also very impressive. The place was spotless, spacious, not to mention all the foods are absolutely delicious
What l like more is they have menu for everyone from kids to adults, which makes definitely great place to have family dinner. Also they just got new Suntory draft beer and it wonderfully paired with the food!

Delicious. Spicey chicken lunch special came with a good sized green salad. It was very tender and tasty with lots of green & red pepper & onions. Poke bowl was large and delicious too. Great value and quality food.

I’ve been here twice now and will definitely be coming back. The sushi is super quality and so tasty, and the service is professional & fast. I like the vibe inside and we have gotten sat right away each time. The ramen is delicious, the sushi is melt in your mouth, & it’s also always super clean inside the restaurant. Love this place!!

Chef Jun in Point Loma is exactly what Point Loma needed! The menu is simple and offers an affordable Omakase menu “Kappo by Jun” and all star sushi rolls with a few small plates and entrees and a long list of options for nigiri/ sashimi/ maki.

The chirashi bowl is absolute perfection—overflowing with all my favorites: ebi, buttery toro topped with Caviar, rich belly of toro, melt-in-your-mouth belly of salmon, fresh halibut, and so much more. Easily over 12 pieces of pristine, high-quality fish for just $36—an unbeatable value for the quality and portion size. Every bite was fresh, silky, and perfectly balanced.

The Ruby Red sushi roll was another standout—the Toro and salmon literally melts in your mouth and leaves you craving more. You can tell the chefs put so much care and attention into every detail.

I plan to come back to try the Omakase $120 per person(not on the menu) and you have to make a reservation and let them know 24 hours in advance that you want to order Omakase. They won’t do it the same day.

This spot is a true hidden gem in Point Loma, and space and ambiance-wise it’s an upgrade from the La Jolla location. Service is excellent and the presentation of the dishes are on point. If you’re a sushi lover, this is the place to go!

Lovely sushi gem. They even have a covered patio. We had a super tasty poke bowl, fire fire roll, and the highlight was the spicy tuna cracker (appetizer). Definitely coming back for that one. Service was great.

It was my first time trying sushi ever…(not kidding), and this place did not disappoint. Located in a small shopping center off Rosecrans and Midway, Chef Jun is a rather unassuming place from the outside but the minute you walk through the doors your greeted to a nice spacious restaurant with lightly accented cherry blossom decor.
We had made a reservation for 4pm on a Saturday but considering there was only a few tables occupied, that may have not been necessary.
The menu was incredibly easy to navigate; a pleasing yet simple design with appetizers and sushi on one side, and nigiri/sashimi options on the back alongside other types of rolls. Pricing is reasonable with most sushi rolls around $18-20 and the sashimi/nigiri $18-40 depending on rarity of fish.
For food we ordered: Spicy Garlic Edamame, Yellowtail Belly Sashimi, Fire Fire, Rainbow and the Sunrise rolls.
The Yellowtail Belly Sashimi was divine with a melt in your mouth texture yet still fresh. I tried it both on its own and with a small amount of soy sauce and would argue it doesn’t need the soy.
Out of the three rolls we got, the Fire Fire was by far the favorite. It had salmon, shrimp tempura, crab, avocado with spicy mayo and eel sauce. The tempura gave a great crunch while the spicy mayo accentuated the salmon really well.
For my first time trying sushi, this was a wonderful experience. The fish tasted fresh without the overpowering fishy taste that had been my main resistance in the past.
Service here is efficient and friendly with the chefs and waiters acknowledging us both on the way in and upon leaving. We will absolutely be back here in the near future.

A big fan of chef Jun! Ordered the Sushi Kaidan for 2. For the price, Great sushi and fresh fish! Service was excellent! This location was a little more commercialized than the bay park one but the quality still top notch! Will be back! Getting to this location can be a little tough because you either have to U-turn or go through the back roads of the shopping mall. Overall fast and service was great!

Chef Jun’s new location in Point Loma off Rosecrans is very accessible and quite chic. And open kitchen design with over the top decorations and fixtures. The food lives up to Chef’s high standard established at the Bay Ho flagship. We had a Dragon Roll, Spicy Tonkatsu Ramen, Chirashi, Tempura, Salted Edemame, and a Cucumber Sunomono. Everything was delicious and we left fully satisfied. Our server, Jamie, was very helpful and had the menu down pat. Definitely on our sure to return list.
