The staff here are so kind and friendly! Great selection of Japanese snacks, ice cream, drinks, candy and spices/pantry staples. They have fresh frozen noodles which is awesome! Hard to find around here. The Onigiri was made fresh and so tasty! My favorite was their special for the day, the smoked salmon and wasabi. Very yummy! Will be back

This place is literally as titled: it’s super cute (kawaii) and has all the things you’d want from a small Japanese convenience store (konbini). They make a selection of onigiri including vegetarian options and egg salad sandwiches. They also have some pre-prepared foods such as roasted Japanese sweet potatoes and cold soba. They provide hot water so you can make instant noodles and have a large, labeled selection you can purchase from. There are also drinks including bottled teas, ramuné, soda, and canned coffees. There are assorted Japanese snacks, stickers, and Sanrio merch. They have two tables you can sit at to eat.

Absolutely love this place! Getting to meet Brooks was awesome and special shoutout to him making some onigiri even after usual serving hours! Loved walking in and seeing the selection of Japanese snacks, cooking items, and ready made meals. GREAT store!

Great Onigiri, I had the super tuna (mayo/shaved tuna combo) and the trout Onigiri. Both were great, tuna’s more savory while the trout is slightly sweeter.
If you’re on the fence based on cost I’ve posted pictures of konbini food in Japan. You’re paying about the same amount based on the portion for something freshly made.

I’m glad that I stumbled upon this place! The people working there are so kind, and there was a fun selection of Japanese goods. I had the tuna mayo and salted trout onigiri. Both were very big and filling! Also got to grab some milk tea and kimchi.
Support local small businesses and check this place out!

It’s owned by a guy who loves Japanese cuisine, and has chosen to stock not just the iconic snacks, but also a good number of pantry staples for making your own Japanese food.
The lunch counter is fun, and I’m sure someone else will show the menu sometime, but the warm onigiri are super tasty, and, as befits a mountainous city with no access to the sea, everything is cooked, preserved, or smoked seafood and very tasty pickled fruit and veg onigiri.
I especially loved the hot water heater available on the counter for instant ramen or the miso soup cups. The quality of the prepared foods they chose to stock is quite high. The brands of the sauces, noodles (great selection of dried soba and fresh ramen), and seaweed are good ones and I intend to return often for them.
And I saw that for a while they had frozen taiyaki. I have to get those next time. I highly recommend this place.
Edited 7/24/2025: The frozen toaster taiyaki with adzuki (red bean filling) are wonderful and relatively inexpensive for how rare they are in the Denver area. Highly recommend if you haven’t had them before

This store is fantastic! I had been looking for Fresh Udon and Ramen noodles to no avail until I visited here. They had fresh noodles of varying types as well and also had other dry noodles and more! Also they have many Japanese condiments that you can’t find any where else and numerous snacks including Kit Kats from Japan which are sooooo good
. The atmosphere was exceptional and I was made to feel very welcome.

Delicious and reasonably priced onigiri! I ordered the smoked salmon and tuna onigiri and both were really good. Made fresh onsite and quickly too. I visited when Kawaii Konbini was at the Old Town Marketplace with limited Japanese grocery items. I’ve noticed the shop has moved to a new location nearby and now is a standalone store. Look forward to checking it out!

Genuinely one of the kindest and best businesses ever! The staff is super friendly especially the gentleman that works later in the day. Not to mention great snack options and onigiri. Highly recommend the umeboshi or okaka! If I could rate this higher I would and if you get the chance it’s more than worth your money! 🙂

What a hidden gem! So cool to have authentic Japanese options. I had to try the onigiri with tuna and am curious to try the sweet plum and egg salad sandwich next time. Anything yuzu is also a win for me so I am thrilled to see that. They even had sake Kit Kats which was a cool experience. Eager to keep exploring their options.
