One of the top go-to spots for mexican food/breakfast tacos in LJ. Always fresh and delicious. We got the original hippo taco and a bean, bacon, cheese taco. I ate my hippo taco too fast before I thought of taking a picture, like usual. They’re always so friendly and I will always support Nena’s!

Service is great and we always get greeted with a smile.
Prices are kind of high but they have specials, we try to go on Wednesday for the Mexican plate special. They can get a bit busy for lunch so if you’re in a hurry arrive early.

I went today for lunch, the ladies said hello. 2 tables had people. I sat at table 3. Watched 1 lady doing something at the cash register. One of the ladies was showing the other something on a phone. I know i didn’t wait real long but with no one coming over to see what I wanted, I left. And I Love this place, have been eating at Nena’s for a long time. Have always had good experience here.

I recently tried Nena’s in their new location. The atmosphere was pleasant and inviting with the decor, lighting, and music. The service was decent, though not particularly memorable. While the food was overall average, the portions felt a bit small for the price, especially compared to their previous location. My to-go order (pictured) for $13+ tax barely satisfied my appetite, leaving me still hungry afterwards.

I had a great lunch at Nena’s! I love that they serve breakfast options during lunch, which is perfect for me. I ordered an egg, potato, jalapeño, and cheese omelette, and it was absolutely delicious—flavorful and perfectly cooked. The portion size was generous, and I appreciated getting two sides with it. The staff is friendly, and attentive, which made the experience even more enjoyable.

The service was terrible. Not only did my family and I wait for a very long time to get our food but we had to wait an extra 20 minutes for the to go order, after we were done eating, that was not put in with the rest of the food. Then after waiting an absurd amount of time for my to go order I come to realize it’s not even the right taco. I asked for potato, egg, cheese, and bacon. Instead I got egg, cheese, potato, and bean. I’m not sure if we just went on a bad day but I do not think we will be returning.

I enjoyed one of the best breakfast tacos I’ve had in a very long time. I was strolling the square in Lake Jackson and saw a mural of a lady on a building. I’m happy my curiosity was peaked, I stumbled into Nena’s Restaurant and the home of the Hippo! I met Nena’s granddaughter who told me about the restaurant and her grandmother. They’ve been in business for 45 years and the place is owned by Nena’s daughter.
I tried the Hippo…it is HUGE and so damn good. All of the flavors worked and the salsa on top had just the right heat and spice. This place serves up great food and the service is great and friendly.

Very good authentic Mexican tacos. I had the Nena Taco. Very big, it could possibly be split between 2 people. The waitress, Gracie, was sweet and very prompt with service. Food came out hot and fresh. There was a fly buzzing around that was annoying but won’t stop me from coming back.

Slim pickings for taco in LJ and Nenas have seemed to have taken advantage of that unfortunately. Service is lackluster tacos ok for the price point and overall a miss for me. Mendozas I miss you and your tea! Your better off buying their tortillas heading home buy ingredients and cook don’t forget be kind to yourself.
