We will definitely be back!
Order says prepared by Beth, manager Osbet, kudos to all of you. Thanks for a quick and easy lunch-to-go!
We ordered right at 5:10 when my husband arrived. The restaurant at the time didn’t seem too crazy. As time went on we got our salad. No dressing, took her ten minutes to get that separately. She stated that the back kitchen was full of people. Then the waiting came, our server got a ton more tables and I think forgot about us. Because at that point 25 minutes went past other tables that sat after us got their food. She said I’m so sorry I don’t know what’s taking so long for two dishes. Our son’s broccoli for the kids meal spaghetti was raw which is something a small child can’t eat. And we were sneakily charged $6 for a salad because we shared a dish. Even though we each got a cup of salad(she didn’t bring the usual amount it was very little) the manger comped my son’s game that he played and some add on for his food. As someone that has been in the restaurant business for a long time, this comp was laughable.
They got us seated right away. Waitress was great. Food was great. Everyone had an enjoyable time and we were out of there in 45 min which is super ideal for a busy family. We will be back!
I do also wonder why the alfredo sauce that you can get for the bread sticks is so much better than the sauce that comes on the pasta. Everyone at the table agreed with that take, and it’s not the first time we’ve noticed.
A Chef then came up & asked if I would like a drink. I said I would LOVE a drink. She looked at the bartender & said his name and he said, “I told her I’d be right with her.” Very short & consldescending-made me feel very small. It took another 4 minutes for him to take my drink order. I ordered a vodka/sprite, and it tasted like just sprite. I am a former Olive Garden GM & this drink was a disgrace. I have also owned & operated two bar/restaurants, one of them a pizzeria. This drink was terrible. Made in a Manhattan glass & packed with ice, it wasnt even three swallows of liquid! FOR $8? REALLY?
I had brought in an UNOPENED can of whipped cream for a special dessert (peach cobbler) that I had for my friend. A food runner took my whipped cream & put in the back in their cooler.
We waited for over 15 more minutes at the bar, so my friend finally went up to the hostess & inquired again as to how long our table would be. We got the impression they had just skipped over my name, because several other deuce tables were given to others who had arrived after we did.
We were finally seated, & the server came over after about five minutes. We both ordered, I got the chicken gnocchi soup & my friend got the salad for our starters. I ordered eggplant parm & she got the chicken Alfredo for dinner. Our bread sticks took ten more minutes to arrive & they were very crunchy & dry. I asked for some Alfredo to moisten them up. The soup arrived & looked as thick as cold gravy! Even though the soup was hot, it was so thick and disgusting. I got grated cheese on both my soup & my eggplant parm, & that was a huge mistake. Something tasted terrible, very sour. I could not eat more than one spoonful of soup or one bite of my dinner. Also, they served my spaghetti on a VERY hot plate, and it stuck to the plate. The server never warned me, and I burned my finger tips on the plate.
I complained to our server & he went to get a manager. He said maybe they would give me a free dessert, which was ironic since we had already discussed the peach cobbler I had brought!
It seemed like we waited FOREVER to see a manager. Finally she came over & we told her about the experience thus far. She then told us my meal would be taken off of the bill. But it seemed like she was “put off” because of our complaints. And I was still unfed. But by the time the server had arrived, my friend was done eating. So I just left hungry, the opposite of what I should be after eating at a restaurant!
We went back to the bar area before we left, to ask for my whipped cream. Two managers spent over 8 minutes in the kitchen looking for it. Finally one of them emerged & stated, “We dont have it!” I said that was impossible since I gave it directly to someone to put back there. Then the other manager emerged & handed me a can of whipped cream. As I started to exit the restaurant I looked down at the can & saw that someone had already opened it! I walked back over to the two managers & said it was already opened. One of them said, “Well it wasnt opened when I just gave it to you!” I said, “Well I didn’t just open it on my way out!” She made me feel just terrible & I did nothing wrong. She then took back the can & went in the kitchen again. A few more minutes passed & sure enough, she emerged with another can of UNOPENED whipped cream. She then said, “We didn’t know where it was.”
What a terrible experience, & ironic as well. Especially because I’ve worked for Darden. I know the Olive Garden standards. This seemed so far off track for the Olive Garden. They should have given me a gift certificate for another meal, for another day. Now I just feel like I won’t go back at all. Very Sad.
